영상예술에서 장르론은 전통적 의미의 미학적 특질과 구명과 더불어 산업적 특성을 함께 고려해야 하는 특수성을 가지고 있다. 텍스트적인 관점에서 장르는 어떤 고정된 법칙이나 의미만을 내포하는 것이 아니라, 수시로 변하는 조건부적 특징을 지니고 있기 때문이다. 그만큼 장르는 유동적인 범주이며, 장르 혼합은 상호텍스트적인 성격 및 산업적이고 형식적인 발달에 의해 나타난 현상이다. 하지만 여러 가지 장르가 제대로 혼합되지 못할 경우, TV드라마의 장르적 정체성을 모호하게 만들면서 텍스트에 대한 응집력을 떨어뜨릴 수도 있기 때문에 주의가 필요하다. 2000년대 중반 이후 한국 TV드라마는 일련의 장르 드라마를 통해 고질적인 장르 편식 현상에서 벗어나기 시작했다. 이에 따라 본고에서는 ``장르``에 대한 일반적인 논의를 통해 영상예술시대 극예술 장르의 특성을 TV드라마 중심으로 고찰하였다. 특히 일련의 역사드라마를 통해 장르 분화 현상을 살펴보고, ``첩보 액션 멜로`` 장르가 혼합된 [아이리스]를 통해 새로운 장르가 기존 장르의 변형과 조합으로 생성되는 과정을 분석하였다. 그 결과 장르 분화 과정에서 지배 이데올로기와의 상관성을 유의할 필요가 있으며, 장르 혼합은 핵심 서사의 방향을 잃지 않는 범주 내에서 개별 장르의 특성을 제대로 살리는 것이 필요함을 확인할 수 있었다. 본고의 논의는 영상예술에 대한 인식의 변화와 더불어 문학의 새로운 영역으로 자리매김하기 시작한 ``영상문학``의 개념과 문학적 위상을 정립하기 위한 시론에 지나지 않는다. 앞으로 좀 더 많은 사례 분석과 함께 충분한 논거를 제시하여 영상예술시대 극예술 장르의 개념과 범주를 보다 명확하게 할 필요가 있다. 또한 생성 발전 소멸을 거듭하는 장르의 속성만큼, 영상예술시대 극예술 장르 역시 과학기술의 발달과 더불어 급변하는 매체 환경에 맞게 지속적으로 변화하게 될 것이므로 다변화하는 영상콘텐츠 전시 창구를 주목해야 할 것이다.

The genre theory in an image art has uniqueness that aesthetic characteristics in terms of traditional meaning should be identified and industrial characteristics should be considered together. It is because from the view of text genre is not implicit in certain fixed laws or meaning only but has ever-changing conditional characteristics. In other words, genre is a floating category and genre mix is a phenomenon resulted from mutual text typed nature and industrial and formal development. However, if many genres are not mixed well, it might make genre identity of TV drama ambiguous and loose a cohesiveness on the text. Since the mid-2000`s, Korean TV drama has begun escaping from chronic genre preference phenomenon through a series of genre drama. For this reason, I studied characteristics of dramatic art genre in an image art age focusing on TV drama by means of general discussion on ``Genre`` in this essay. In particular, I examined a genre division phenomenon with a series of history dramas and analyzed the process that a new genre is turning into transformation and combination of existing genres through Iris, in which intelligence, action and melodrama genres are mixed. As a result it is concluded that it is necessary to give attention to correlation with dominant ideology in the process of genre division and to make the most of individual genre`s characteristics within the range of key narration for genre mix. The discussion contained in this essay is nothing more than an essay to establish the concept and literary status of image literature, which starts to place as a new territory of literature, along with the change of awareness on image art. Thus, it is required to clarify the concept and category of dramatic art in an image art age by presenting enough grounds for an argument as well as analysis of more examples in the future. In addition, as like attribute of genre repeating creation, development and extinction, dramatic art genre in an image art age also will be consistently changed in response to development of scientific technique and rapidly changing media environment. Therefore we will have to pay attention to the exhibition counter of diversifying image contents.
