이 연구는 ‘독서 지수’를 활용한 독서 활동의 효용성 및 문학작품 연구 가능성을 검토하는 것을 목적으로 전개되었다. 독서지수는 효과적인 독서 활동을 위하여 도서의 난이도를 평가하여 수치를 정하고 그에 따라 등급을 부여한 것이다. 독서지수를 산출하는 과정에서 가장 핵심이 되는 부분은 해당 텍스트의 어휘를 양적, 질적으로 계량하는 작업이다. 따라서 통계 언어학, 코퍼스 언어학의 발전은 어휘의 양적인 면을 다루는 측면에서, 국어 어휘의 등급별 분류를 제공하는 김광해의 연구는 어휘의 질적인 면을 다루는 측면에서 독서지수 산출의 토대가 된다. ‘낱말 어휘정보처리연구소’의 ‘독서지수분석 프로그램’은 등급별 어휘 목록 DB를 이용하여, 입력된 텍스트에 대한 독서지수를 부여한다. 독서지수 분석 사례로《태백산맥(1)》의 경우를 살펴보면, 독서지수는 1,100으로 중학교 3학년에서 고등학교 1학년 수준에 해당하며, 시대적 배경을 반영하는 어휘, 공간적 배경을 반영하는 방언도 자주 나타난다는 것을 알 수 있다. 독서지수는 독자, 독서 교육자, 출판계 등에서 유용하게 활용될 수 있을 뿐더러, 독서지수 산출 과정에서 축적된 어휘에 대한 정보는 문학 작품의 문체나 경향을 연구하는 효과적인 도구가 될 수 있다. 언어학, 독서, 문학 분야 연구자들의 협동 작업이 전개된다면 개개의 작품 특성 연구에 머무르는 것이 아니라 한 작가의 작품 전체, 한 시대 또는 비슷한 경향의 작품들에 대한 특징적인 국면도 포착해 내는 데까지 나아갈 수 있을 것이다. 그리고 그 성과는 다시 언어학, 독서 연구 분야에 반영될 수 있을 것이다. 이 연구의 결과가 이와 같은 학제 간의 활발한 교류를 제안하는 일종의 시안이 되기를 기대한다.
The purpose of this study is to examine the utilization of Read-LQ(Lectio Quotient). Read-LQ can be used in the effective reading activities and in the study of literary. Read-LQ is to assess the difficulty of the book and to give a grade of the book. In the process of calculating Read-LQ is the core part of the vocabulary of the text, both quantitative and qualitative measurement. Therefore, corpus linguistics and the study of Kimgwanghae is the basis for the calculation of Read-LQ. Read-LQ Analysis Program of Natmal Institute for Information Processing Vocabulary(Natmal v. 2004) grant Read-LQ to typed text using the DB of Vocabulary list. Read-LQ of Taebaek Mountains(1) is 1,100L. This is the 9th grade to 11th grade level. In Taebaek Mountains(1) , the vocabulary related to time appear frequently. And dialects, which are related to space, also appear frequently. Read-LQ may be useful to the reader, reading educators, publisher, etc. As well as Read-LQ can be an effective tool to study of literary trends and literary style. Because it is the accumulation of data of the vocabulary in the process of calculating it. If linguist, reading specialists and literary researcher should work together, they will achieve results more abundant.
