지금까지 우리는 기존의 국어 교육에서 텍스트가 결속구조와 결속성의 관점에서 다루어져 오면서 텍스트의 결속 구조 관련 교육 내용이 지시·접속 표현에 머무를 수밖에 없었다는 문제의식 아래 다네쉬(1970)에서 제시한 화제 초점 중심의 텍스트 구조 유형화를 텍스트 관련 국어 교육 내용으로 적극 도입할 것을 제안하였다. 이를 통해 화제와 초점의 자연스러운 결합을 통한 문장 구조와 문장 연결에서의 자연스러운 초점 연쇄를 효과적인 텍스트 구성을 위한 이상적인 텍스트의 텍스트성 판단 기준으로 삼을 수 있을 것으로 기대된다. 그리고 다네쉬(1970)의 5가지 텍스트 주제 전개 구조인 단순 선형식 주제 전개 구조, 화제부 순환식 주제 전개 구조, 상위 화제 파생식 전개 구조, 초점부 분열식 전개 구조, 화제 비약식 전개 구조에 상위 화제 수렴식 전개 구조를 더하여 6가지 텍스트 구조 유형을 살펴보았다. 이러한 텍스트 구조 유형은 특정 장르에 국한되지 않고 일반적으로 적용 가능하지만, 설득 텍스트에서는 단순 선형식 주제 전개 구조, 상위 화제 파생식 전개 구조, 초점부 분열식 전개 구조가 일반적으로 나타나는 경향을 보였다.

Our existing Korean language education has dealt with texts from the viewpoint of cohesion structure and coherence and, as a result, the contents of education on the cohesion structure of texts have to be confined to demonstrative and connective expressions. Recognizing the problem, this study proposed the active introduction of topic/focus-centered text structure typing suggested by Danes(1970) as a content of text related Korean language education. Through this, we expect that smooth focus chain in sentence structure and sentence connection through the natural cohesion of topics and focuses would be used as a criterion for determining the textuality of texts in composing effective texts. In addition, we examined six text structure types including Danes`s (1970) five text thematic development structures - simple linear development structure, topic rotating development structure, hypertopic derivative development structure, focus splitting development structure and topic jumping development structure - and additional hytopic convergent development structure. These text structure types are generally applicable without limitation to specific genres, but structures commonly observed in persuasive texts were simple linear development structure, hypertopic derivative development structure and focus splitting development structure.
