新世紀中國語文課程改革的價値取向
The Reform of Chinese Literacy Curriculum for the 21st Century

現代社會開放的、多元的文化格局對語文敎育提出了挑戰, 中國新世紀語文課程改革面對幷適應這方面的要求, 注重體會認識中華文化, 加强閱讀經典名著、誦讀優秀詩文, 以突出語文積累的基礎價値, 幷努力解決閱讀活動平庸化的危機。作文敎學繼承傳統作文敎學的經驗, 强調先放後收, 多做多改。鼓勵學生自主寫作、自由表達和有創意的表達。

In 2001, Chinese government released a curriculum framework of compulsory literacy education. Soon, the government is going to announce a revised version of the curriculum based on its experiences and lessons from the past 10 years. The revised curriculum framework is going to be designed to meet diverse needs of Chinese students living in the globalized society. I would like to introduce five principles that have guided the direction of the revised curriculum. 1. Students should recognize and experience the value of Chinese cultures. It will be a basic knowledge to be a well-educated Chinese citizen. Also, in our current globalized and diversified societies, we can create ethnic solidarity to be a strong and independent China by valuing and preserving our own cultures. 2. Basic knowledge of traditional Chinese letters, genre knowledge, and literary criticism should be emphasized to improve students` understanding of Chinese classic poetry. By memorizing well-written traditional poems, students might accumulate and internalize all the basic knowledge. 3. Students should read cannons to learn how to understand a text in critical and creative ways. Reading cannons allows students to learn the value of their lives and traditionally preserved values. 4. Students should write much and also revise much. In order to do so, teachers respect their students` ideas and create opportunities to write. Also, teachers can lower their expectations on the format and structure of writing, instead they can focus more on how to express students` opinions in effective ways. 5. Students should write independently and be encouraged to write based on their critical and creative point of views. Forming students` writing habits and motivating their writing enable them to reflect their thinking process and elaborate their knowledge.
