국어교육에서 학습자의 언어처리 과정에 대한 과학적 탐구는 기여할 수 있는 바가 크다. 컴퓨터 언어처리 모형의 기본 원리 역시 인간의 언어 처리 과정을 기반으로 하고 있는 측면이 많기 때문이다. 따라서 학습자의 국어 학습 과정, 이해와 표현 과정에서의 실수와 오류, 사실적·추론적·비판적 이해와 표현의 인지적 사고 발달 과정을 핵심으로 하는 국어교육의 연구 내용은 컴퓨터 언어 처리에 기여할 수 있는 바가 크다. 지금까지 언어와 관련하여 이루어져 온 음운, 어휘, 형태, 통사, 담화·텍스트 구조, 담화·텍스트의 이해와 처리 과정, 인지 언어학 등 모든 연구들이 문서 자동 요약 연구에만도 관련되지 않는 부분이 없을 정도이다. 그리고 생략, 지시, 대용 이론, 스키마와 개념망 이론 등이 완성될 때 문서 자동 요약을 비롯한 컴퓨터 언어 처리에 대한 과제가 좀 더 완전하게 해결될 수 있다는 시각이 일반적이다. 이는 인간의 언어이해와 표현의 정밀한 과정이 해결되어야만 문서 자동 요약은 물론 컴퓨터 언어 처리가 좀 더 완벽해질 수 있다는 뜻이다. 따라서 학습자의 언어 이해와 표현 과정에 대한 보다 정밀한 탐색과 연구는 국어교육은 물론 컴퓨터 정보 처리 연구에도 중요한 자산이 되며, 여기에 상호 학제적 연구의 필요성과 중요성이 존재한다. 지금까지 논의한 결과를 바탕으로 학제적 관점에서 문서 자동 요약이 주는 시사점을 간단히 제시하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 맥락정보 기반 접근법 활용의 필요성과 가능성이다. 제목이나 문맥 단서 뿐만 아니라 담화·텍스트의 상황맥락, 사회문화적 맥락 등의 맥락 정보 활용 가능성을 고려해야 할 것이다. 특히 발신자, 수신자, 더 나아가서는 의도, 목적, 메시지, 관련지식(스키마)을 종합적으로 고려할 수 있는 방안이 온톨로지의 구축과 함께 고려되어야 할 것이다. 둘째, 담화 표지와 텍스트의 구조를 좀 더 적극적으로 활용하는 방안이 모색되어야 할 것이다. 기존의 담화 표지에 대한 연구 성과의 반영도 아직은 미흡한 수준으로 보이며, 특히 텍스트의 구조(초구조, 거시구조, 담화·텍스트 차원의 수사적 호응 관계) 등은 아직도 거의 반영되지 못하고 있는 것으로 보인다. 특히 텍스트 전개 구조를 참조한 입체적 벡터의 개념(텍스트 전개 방향, 텍스트 부분의 중요도)이나 등간격 지향성의 원리(첫째, 둘째, 셋째 등)은 구체적으로 공동 연구가 필요한 부분으로 생각된다.

This thesis suggests some ideas on the interdisciplinary approach for the research of Auto Document Summarization(hereafter ADS) between Korean Education(hereafter KE) and Computer Engineering. The principles of language processing in computer are fundamentally based on the cognitive process of human. Therefore, the contents and results of KE which is interested in reading comprehension and expression including summarization contribute a great deal to ADS. The results of researches accomplished in KE are accumulated so much so far such as text comprehension, discourse and text structure, word acquisition, etc. The research on ADS will be more concrete when it refer to the process of text comprehension and expression of human being including learners. Therefore, interdisciplinary approach between KE and CE cannot be emphasized too much. In this point some suggestions and prospects on ADS research are presented as follows. Firstly, the need and possibility of context-based approach on ADS. When we research on ADS, we need to consider on sociocultural context as well as context of discourse and text, furthermore addressor, addressee, intention, purpose, message and schemata when we construct ontologies. Secondly, we need to consider the discourse marker and text structure more deeply and precisely, including micro-structure, macro-structure, super-structure and sequences of rhetorical expressions.
