1960년대는 사회 전반에 걸쳐 개인의 자유와 권리가 억압되었던 시대이지만, 그런 시대적 상황 속에서도 억압적이고 폭력적인 제도와 지배이데올로기에 대한 비판과 저항은 꾸준히 이루어졌는데, 그것을 가능하게 한 것이 바로 소설이었다. 소설이 가진 문학적 상상력은 현실의 변화와 재구성을 통해 가능세계를 제시하는 힘을 가지고 있으며, 이는 현실에서 쉽게 할 수 없었던 ``인권`` 문제를 고민하고 담론화하기에 적합하다. 이청준의 「공범」과 이제하의 「손」은 1960년대에 만연했던 군사주의적 폭력성으로 인한 인권억압의 상황들을 재현하면서 군사주의의 문제적 실상을 폭로했을 뿐 아니라, 그런 문제들에 맞서 저항하는 모습까지 제시함으로써, 현실 세계에 대해 비판하고 저항하는 성격의 가능세계를 모색하였다. 두 편의 소설은 군사주의가 ``정상``으로 규정해놓은 폭력성과 권위주의, 전체주의 등에 대해 광기와 같은 비정상적이고 일탈적인 방법을 통한 저항이라는 플롯을 제시함으로써 군사주의의 폭력성과 문제를 폭로하고, 권위를 흔들어놓는다. 현실에서는 비판조차 금기시되었던 대상에 대한 소설에서의 자유로운 비판과 저항은 현실 세계에서는 억압되었던 인권의 가치를 회복하고 유지하는 역할을 하였다.

This thesis tried to newly will read novels in 1960s from aspect of human rights violations within the military culture. 1960s is a very oppressive period, but criticism and resistance against the oppressive system and dominant ideology have appeared through novels. The literary imagination have the power to propose the possible world by changing and reconstructing the real world. This power is well-suited for discuss the problem of human rights. We can see the human rights violations within the military culture in Accomplice(「공범」) of Lee, Cheong-jun and Hands(「손」) of Lee, Je-ha. The army`s standardized, formalized and oppressive way of thought has a great chance of limiting one`s liberty and individuality, and therefore creates elements that violate human rights. Accomplice(「공범」) and Hands(「손」) represent and expose the violations within the military culture. They overcome the aspects of military culture that violate human rights by doing abnormal and deviant behaviour is like madness. Through this behaviour, the novels propose the possible world that criticize and resist against the oppressive real world. The military culture is a sacred ground that is not allowed to criticize in the real world. Whereas the criticism and resistance in novels have restored and maintained the value of human rights.
