본고에서는 1차 교육과정부터 2011 개정 교육과정에 걸쳐 국어과 교육과정에 나타난 국어과 통합 교육의 접근 양상을 살폈다. 국어과 교육 일반적으로 통합 교육의 필요성은 언어 사용의 실제, 언어의 도구성, 국어과 교육의 현실 여건, 유기체의 생물적 특성, 학습자의 발달심리적 특성, 학습의 효율성, 교육의 실세계 대응력과 관련되는 측면에서 제기되어 왔다. 국어과 교육과정에서는 기본적으로 통합 교육을 인정하고 긍정하는 입장을 보이고 있었다. 1차, 2차 교육과정에서는 통합 교육의 필요성을 충분히 인식하고 있으며 그 근거를 언어 사용의 실제에서 찾고 있었다. 3차 교육과정에서도 1차, 2차 교육과정의 맥을 잇고 있었다. 이후 2007 개정 교육과정에 와서 국어과의 통합 교육에 대한 안내가 상세화되고 통합 교육의 근거가 다변화되는 경향을 보였다. 그러나 가장 기본적으로 언어의 총체성을 근간으로 하여 통합 교육을 강조하는 점은 변함이 없었다. 이점은 가장 최근의 2011 교육과정에서도 동일하게 나타난다. 다음으로 교육과정에 나타난 통합의 범위와 대상에 대해 살펴보았다. 교과 간 통합 지도에 대한 강조는 주로 초창기 국어과 교육과정에 집중적으로 나타나는 경향이 있었다. 1차, 2차 교육과정에서는 교과 간 통합에 대해 매우 적극적인 입장을 보이고 있었다. 3차 교육과정에서도 기본 정신이 이어지고 있었다. 4차 교육과정 이후부터 현재까지 국어과 교육과정에서 말해 온 주요 통합 지도는 영역 간 통합 지도였다. 영역 간 통합은 언어 사용 영역 사이의 통합과 언어 사용 영역과 그 외 영역의 통합으로 구분해 볼 수 있었다. 언어 사용 영역 사이의 통합은 주로 고등학교 심화과목 교육과정에서 나타나는 경향이 있었다. 영역 내 통합의 언급은 2007 개정 교육과정에서 나타나기 시작했다. 이는 2007 개정 교육과정에서의 ``내용 요소`` 신설과 관련되어 있다. 영역 내 통합의 정신은 2011 개정 교육과정에서도 이어지고 있다.

This study investigated the aspect of integrated approach to literacy instruction which was presented from the 1st Korean Language Curriculum to the 2011 Revised Korean Language Curriculum. As a results, a few aspects related integrated approach to literacy instruction were discovered such as followings. Basically, it was revealed the position that recognizes the necessity of integrated approach and recommend the use of it in the Korean Language Curriculum. From the 1st Korean Language Curriculum to the 3rd Korean Language Curriculum, the necessity of integrated approach was emphasized based on the totality of the activities of use language. In the 2007 Revised Korean Language Curriculum, various bases for the necessity of integrated approach was presented. But in the 2007 Revised Korean Language Curriculum and the 2011 Revised Korean Language Curriculum putting a stress on the totality of the activities of use language was the common with the previous Korean Language Curriculum. Integrated approach between the subjects was mainly showed in the 1st Korean Language Curriculum and 2nd Korean Language Curriculum. After the 4th Korean Language Curriculum, the integrated approach between the fields was placed emphasis on. It was classified integrated instruction between the fields. One is integrating speaking and writing and listening and reading, and the other is integrating the fields of grammar and literature and those of listening, speaking, reading and writing. The first has a tendency to appear in the elective curriculum in the high school. Integrated approach in the same field was introduced in the 2007 Revised Korean Language Curriculum and the 2011 Revised Korean Language Curriculum. This was related to newly-established the contents elements in the 2007 Revised Korean Language Curriculum. This study will provide valuable aid for those who are in search of information about the integrated approach in the Korean Language Curriculum.
