As there has been a rapid rise in the number of immigrants, it is unavoidable that Korea is becoming a multi-cultural society. And in the process, the role of Korean language education has been very important. Coping with this situation, Korean Government is putting in a great deal of effort to manage Korean language education for the community members effectively. However the results are not satisfactory. The directions of Korean language educational world and the tasks for government to perform are summarized as below. In the first place, the Korean language learning programs needs to be made participatory programs of the multi-cultural families. Secondly, research on the actual situation of the multi-cultural family members` Korean language learning and use. Thirdly, we need to make a great effort making good Korean education materials. What is more, as immigrants increase standardized Korean language textbooks are supposed to be developed and distributed which meet the special purpose of the multi-cultural community members. Last but not least, Korean language teacher should be trained in a systematic way and need to improve their expertise through reeducation.
