정보화 시대를 맞이하여 인재의 조건이 변하면서 한국 사회도 인재를 양성하고 선발하는 방식이 달라져야 하는 상황에 직면했다. 산업화를 거쳐 출현한 지식기반사회는 유용한 정보와 지식을 선별하고 이를 유기적으로 결합하여 새로운 지식을 생산해 낼 수 있는 인재를 필요로 한다. 본 연구는 이러한 시대적 변화에 걸맞는 능력을 갖춘 인재를 선발하는데 있어서 통합 논술이 중요한 역할을 담당할 수 있다는 가능성을 염두에 두고 연구를 진행하고자 했다. 특히 융합적 사고력과 평생학습능력, 창의력이 새 시대에 적합한 인재의 능력이라는 점에 근거하여 이 능력의 특성을 통합 논술과의 관련성과 연계하여 검토했다. 한편 이에 앞서 논술의 변화 과정과 통합 논술의 대두 배경에 대한 고찰은 시대 변화에 따른 인재상의 변화를 파악해 보기 위한 의도에서 제기되었다. 하지만 현행 통합 논술이 제대로 된 인재 선발 기능을 발휘하기에는 한계를 지니고 있음도 부인하기 어렵다. 본고에서는 이 점도 관심의 대상으로 삼아 현행 통합 논술의 문제점과 개선 방향에 대해서 논의를 시도했다.

With the terms of talents changing in preparation for the information age, talents-training and -selecting ways should be changed even in Korean society. The knowledge-based society emerged through industrialization requires talents, who can produce new knowledge by the selection of useful information and knowledge and the organic combination of this. This study tried to be carried out, taking consideration the possibility that integrated essay writing plays an important role in selecting them for the periodical change. In particular, based on that integrated thinking ability, lifelong learning skill and creativity are their abilities for a new age, characteristics of these abilities were examined through ties with the interrelationship of integrated essay writing. Meanwhile, earlier, a study on the process of essay writing and the background of integrated essay writing was mentioned in the intention to understand the change of right talents with the changes of the times. But it is also difficult to deny that there is a limit for the current integrated essay writing to show a proper function of talents selection. In this paper, the discussion about the issues and improvement of the current integrated essay writing was attempted by putting even this point as an object of attention.
