본 연구의 목적은 도시민의 농촌지향 인구이동에 관한 연구결과를 검토하고 새로운 연구방향을 제언하는 것이다. 이를 위하여 1996년~2010년 동안 이루어진 도시민의 농촌지향 인구이동에 관한 연구를 대상으로 도시민의 농촌지향 동기와 생활만족도, 도시민의 농촌지향 효과, 농촌생활 정착과정, 지원방안 및 은퇴자의 연구 등으로 나누어 분석하였다. 도시민의 농촌지향 동기 연구는 외환위기 직후에 활발하게 연구되기 시작하였다. 도시민의 농촌지향 정착단계 및 과정 연구는 전반적으로 활발한 편이었으나 은퇴자 중심의 연구는 2000년대 중반 이후에나 관심을 갖고 이루어졌다. 또한 도시민의 농촌지향 영향 및 효과에 관한 연구는 귀농초기에 극히 부분적으로 이루어졌으며 근래 들어 도시민의 농촌지향 인구의 성공적인 영농정착을 위한 지원방안 연구가 활발하다. 지금까지의 도시민의 농촌지향의 연구는 주로 영농활동에 초점을 두고 이루어져 왔고, 도시민의 농촌지향에 대한 현장 및 마이크로 스케일의 연구는 아직 미흡한 편이다. 따라서 앞으로 미시적인 분석 자료를 가지고 이동과정과 농촌지역 적응에 관한 연구가 필요할 것으로 사료된다.

The purpose of this research is to review the research outcomes of urban-rural migration as well as to propose a new direction to the urban to rural migration research. The urban-to-rural migration from 1996 to 2010 has been reviewed in terms of their motivation and satisfaction, effects of migration, process of their adaptation, assistance plan and retiree`s research, and the others. The research about people`s motivation of returning to countryside for farming has been flourished after the financial crisis. Researches on process of and aptation to the countryside has been generally noticeable, while those on retirees have spotlighted since the mid 2000s. Research on influence of the movements had been focused partially in the early periods. Assistance plan for successful agricultural adaptation for the urban people has been actively studied. Until now, the studies on the urban-to-rural migration has focused mainly on the agricultural activity while researches on the field and in micro-scale are rather scarce. Thus, in future, researches on countryside adaptation and movement procedure with micro-scale analyses need to be conducted.
