본 연구는 다양한 사회적 상황에서 지적 장애인에 대한 대학생의 태도를 알아보기 위한 연구로서 대학생 516명을 대상으로 수행하였다. 대학생의 태도를 분석하기위한 관련 변인으로서는 성별, 학년, 전공, 장애친척유모 등과 더불어 직접 경험과 간접 경험 등을 선정하였다. 연구도구는 Hergenrather와 Rhodes(2007)이 개발한 장애인에 대한 사회적 관계척도(Disability Social Relations Generalized Disability:DSRGD)를 번안하여 타당도와 신뢰도에 대한 검정절차를 거쳤다. 본 연구 결과를 살펴보면, 지적 장애인에 대한 대학생의 태도는 사회적 상황에 따라 다르게 나타났으며, 대학생 관련 변인에 따라서도 차이를 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 장애에 관련된 직접 경험의 양도 지적장애인에 대한 대학생의 태도에 영향을 미치는 변인으로 제시되었으며, 대학생의 장애인식 개선을 위한 적극적인 노력이 있어야 할 것을 제안하였다.

Under the goal of investigating college students` attitudes toward intellectually disabled people in a variety of social situations, this study conducted a research with 403 subjects. In analyzing their attitudes, such related variables as gender, grade, major, disabled relatives, and first-and second-hand experiences were selected. As for the research tool, the Disability Social Relations Generalized Disability(DSRGD) developed by Hergenrather and Rhodes(2007) was translated and put to the validity and reliability test. As a result, the college students demonstrated different attitudes toward intellectually disabled people according to social situations and the related variables. The amounts of first-and second-hand experiences with disabilities turned out to affect their attitudes, as well. Those findings suggest that there should active efforts to improve college students` perceptions of disabilities.
