본 연구는 온라인 토론 학습의 만족도를 예측하는 학습자 특성변인과 학습과정 변인을 규명하여 성공적인 온라인 토론 학습을 설계하고 조직하는 데 이론적 기초를 제공하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 예측 변인으로 사회적 실재감, 과제가치, 메타인지를 상정하고 이들의 예측력과 사회적 실재감의 매개효과를 실증적으로 규명하였다. 연구대상은 서울소재 A 대학교 학생 43명으로, 이들은 3주 동안 온라인 토론학습에 참여한 후, 최종적으로 토론 결과를 파워포인트 형식의 산출물로 구성하여 발표하는 것으로 토론학습과정을 진행하였다. 토론 학습과정이 모두 끝난 후, 설문을 통해 학습자의 과제가치, 메타인지, 사회적 실재감 및 만족도가 측정되었다. 연구 결과, 사회적 실재감, 과제가치, 메타인지는 온라인 토론만족도를 유의하게 예측하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 사회적 실재감은 과제가치와 만족도, 메타인지와 만족도 사이를 매개하는 것으로 확인되었다. 이러한 결과는 성공적인 온라인 토론 학습을 위해서는 학습자의 사회적 실재감, 과제가치 및 메타인지를 고려한 지원이 필요함을 시사한다. 즉, 교수자는 학습자들로 하여금 적극적으로 상호작용할 수 있도록 독려하고, 학습자의 요구를 반영한 토론 주제를 선정하며, 학습자의 메타인지를 촉진시킬 수 있는 전략을 고안하는 방향으로 온라인 토론학습을 설계해야 할 것이다.

The purpose of this study was to investigate how the learners` task value, metacognition, and social presence affect learning satisfaction. In addition, this study examined the mediating effect of social presence between learner`s task value, metacognition and learning satisfaction. Participants were 43 undergraduate students in A university in Seoul, Korea. They responded the following surveys: task value, metacognition, social presence, and satisfaction. Baron & Kenny (1986)`s mediation analysis approach with correlation and multiple regression analyses were conducted to this study. Findings showed significant correlations among task value, metacognition, social presence, and satisfaction. In addition, task value, metacognition, social presence significantly predicted learning satisfaction. Social presence mediated the relationships between task value and satisfaction, and between metacognition and satisfaction. This findings imply that social presence, task value, and metacognition should be valued to enhance learning satisfaction in online discussion learning.
