본고는 전남의 육지와 사용 양상이 다른 전남 완도군 약산면의 친족어를 보고하고 그 주요 기능을 밝히는 것을 목적으로 하고 있다. ``조부니``는 ``조부님``에서 /ㅁ/이 탈락한 형태인데 ``조부님``과 달리 호칭, 지칭으로 모두 사용 가능하다. /ㅁ/ 탈락을 통해 친밀감이 강화된 것으로 보인다. ``자인``과 ``장모``는 ``처백부/처숙부``나 ``처백모/처숙모``를 부를 때 접두사 ``큰/작은-``과 결합하여 어기 역할을 한다. ``성애``와 ``동숭애``는 ``성(형)``과 ``동생``에 접미사 ``-애``가 결합한 형태이다. ``-애``는 친밀감을 드러내는 정의적 접미사의 일종으로 ``-매``를 이형태로 가지고 있다. ``아재``와 ``아짐(씨)``는 동항렬의 인척을 부르거나 나이많은 친족이나 비친척을 부를 때 주로 사용한다. ``아재``는 손아래 사람을 가리키는 반면 ``아짐씨``는 손위·손아래 가리지 않고 사용할 수 있다. 그 외에 제시된 ``시숙과 성님, 동숭, 형수/헹수, 오춘과 숙모``는 친밀감을 중시하는 섬지역의 사회문화적 특성 때문에 육지와는 다른 사용 양상을 보이는 친족어이다.
This study has its purpose on reporting the kinship terns of islands which are differently used from the mainland in Jeonnam area and figuring out their main functions as well. The objective area of the study is located in Yaksan-myeon(Joyak-do), Wando-gun, Jeonnam. The objective terms are Jobooni, Jain & Jangmo, Seongae & Dongsoongae, Ajae or Ajabssi, and Ajim(ssi), and the other kinship terns are Sisook & Seongnim, Dongsoong, Hyungsoo & Hengsoo, and Ochoon and Sookmo. Jobooni is the form omitted /ㅁ/ from Joboonim. Jobooni can be used in both calling and naming, unlikely to Joboonim. This seems that the omission of /ㅁ/ could make more closer intimacy. Jain and Jangmo have a function of stem by combining with prefixes ``keun-`` or ``jakeun-`` when it is called to Cheo-baekboo & Cheo-sookboo or Cheo-baekmo & Cheo-sookmo. Seongae and Dongsoongae is the form with the suffix ``-ae`` in Seong and Dongsaeng, which are the dialect of elder sister and younger brother or sister. Morever, the suffix ``-ae`` is a kind of affective suffix expressed intimacy and also has the allomorphone of ``-mae``. Ajae and Ajim(ssi) are used to call each other to the relatives of the same generation, Ajae specifically indicates younger members in family trees, while Ajim(ssi) could be used in the both younger and older ones. The other kinship terns like Sisook & Seongnim, Dongsoong, Hyeongsoo & Hengsoo, and Ochoon & Sookmo show different aspects from inland`s ones because of the sociocultural characteristics of islands area to lay more stress on intimacy.
