이 연구에서는 우선 열린 교과서관의 교육학적 의미와 국어교육의 위상을 높이는데 기여할 만한 가치 여부를 살펴보았다. 그리하여 열린 교과서관은 다양성과 창의성이 강조되는 시대 사조에 부응하는 것으로서, 학습자가 주도적으로 학습하는 자료요, 개개 학습자 생활에의 전이성과 창의성과 자율성에 더 비중을 두는 것으로서 구성주의적 관점과 민주주의적 이념에 걸맞은 교육학적 의미를 지닌 것임을 확인했다. 그리고 국어교육의 도구교과성을 높이고, 통합교육의 길을 열어줌으로 수위교과로서 국어교육의 위상 제고에 한 몫을 함을 확인할 수 있었다. 그리고 열린 교과서관이 국어 교과서 개발에 기여할 만한 점들을 좀 더 세분화해서 국어 교육과정의 상세화 면과, 국어과 교육내용으로서 제재 선정 및 위계화 면, 그리고 단원 구성 면으로 나눠서 살펴보았다. 그리하여 열린 교과서관이 지닌 의미와 장점들이 각 개발 단계와 과정상의 판단과 선택의 주요 기준이 되고 교과서 개발상의 새로운 제재와 더불어 활동 구안시의 주요 시사점을 주는 근거점이 되어줌으로써 더욱 교육적 가치와 수준이 높은 국어교과서를 만드는 데 기여할 수 있다고 보았다.

This study was aimed to explored value of ``the open perspective on textbooks as developing Korean Language Arts through the educational meaning and implication of its. The open perspective on textbooks is to have diversity and creativity in these days. It also is thought that textbooks are instructional materials which lead learners’ metastatic and creativity for learning. It comes from constructionalism and democracy. The open perspective to Language arts could be based on a tool subject and integration to instruction and learning. In addition, the open perspective could be contributed to development of national textbooks；in the interpretation of Korean language art curriculum, in the selecting materials to teach and and in the construct of units. Therefore, the open perspective on textbooks could be criteria to develop textbooks and determine materials to teach, which be contributed make Korean textbooks high levels.
