The purpose of this study was to compare the cognitive process between intellectual disabilities and non-disabled students. The participants were consisted of 84 elementary school students (intellectual disabilities: 27, non-disabled: 57). This study used CAS(Cognitive Assessment System) to analyze of their cognitive process. The study results were as follows: First, there were statistical differences in full scale between intellectual disabilities and non-disabled students. The average of all values of full scale turned out to order by normal group with the same social age, normal group with the same mental age, mental disabilities. Second, there were statistical differences of 4 PASS(Planning, Attention, Simultaneous process, Successive process) scales between intellectual disabilities and non-disabled students. However there were no significant difference between normal group with the same social age and normal group with same mental age in Planning, Simultaneous process, Attention, Successive process, Values for each scale. Third, in all 12 subtests, there were statistical differences between intellectual disabilities and non-disabled students. especially, students with intellectual disabilities received very low scores in 6 subtests(matching number, figure memory, number detection, receptive attention, sentence repetition, sentence question). As shown above, children with intellectual disabilities showed a significantly lower power in the entire scale and the PASS scales as well as all 12 subtests compared to normal children, but it is slightly different from each scale and tasks in the difference of the average or the degrees of retardation. This shows that children with intellectual disabilities have relatively strong and low cognitive processes. These results can provide useful information to plan effectively educational interventions for them to build on the strengths and complement the weaknesses.
