본 연구의 목적은 경도 지적장애아동을 대상으로 지식 정보화 사회에서 요구되는 컴퓨터를 이용한 다양한 교수·학습 방법이 개발· 적용되면서 특수교육도 ICT 수업과 문자지도를 위한 CAI 멀티미디어를 활용한 교수·학습이 활발히 이루어짐을 감안하여 한글워드 프로그램이 경도 지적장애아동의 읽기, 쓰기 능력에 미치는 효과를 알아보고자 하는데 있다. 연구대상은 K시에 소재한 Y초등학교 특수학급에 소속된 경도 지적장애아동 3명을 대상으로 한 회기당 30분, 주 3회, 총 20회기였으며 단일대상 사례연구로 읽기 및 쓰기 능력변화를 사전·사후 백분율과 그래프로 자료를 처리하였다. 이 연구를 통해 얻어진 주요 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 한글워드 프로그램은 경도지적장애아동의 읽기 능력에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤다. 둘째, 한글워드 프로그램은 경도지적장애아동의 쓰기 능력에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤다. 이를 바탕으로 향후 경도 지적장애아동의 읽기 및, 쓰기능력의 향상을 위한 다양한 멀티미디어 자료를 개발하고 현장에 적용하는데 필요한 기초 자료를 제시할 수 있으리라 본다.

The purpose of this study is to find the effects of a Korean word program on the reading and writing abilities of the children with mild intellectual disability, considering that as a variety of computer-based learning and teaching approaches required in the knowledge information age are developed and applied, special education utilizes CAI multimedia based learning and teaching for ICT classes and letter teaching. The subjects are three children who belong to a special class in Y elementary, K, and they are given 20 reading and writing sessions three times a week for 30 minutes each. And the resultant changes in reading and writing for early, middle, latter periods are given in graphs. The major conclusions resulted from this study are as follows. First, the Korean word program is effective in improving the reading abilities of the children with mild intellectual disabilities. Second, the Korean word program is effective in improving the writing abilities of those with mild intellectual disabilities. Third reading and writing words with the program helps children to remember and read words, and to master their correct forms and writing orders. It will be possible to develop a variety of multimedia data for improving the reading and writing abilities of the children with mild intellectual disabilities and to suggest the basic data for their practical application.
