이번에 고시된 2011 초등학교 국어 교과서 <국어>, <국어 활동>은 지난 30년간 사용해온 언어 기능별 분책 교과서와는 다른 외적 체제이다. 이러한 변화는 초등학교 국어 교과서 역사에서도 획기적인 변화로 폭넓은 의미의 통합의 관점이 요구된다고 하겠다. 따라서 통합적인 국어교육의 관점을 본격적으로 반영하기 위한 외적 체제와 내적 체제에 대하여 논의하였다. 통합적인 국어 교육을 위한 외적 체제와 내적 체제는 다음과 같다. <국어>, <국어 활동>의 두 권 교과서의 관계는 학습 내용 연계 측면에서는 ``종속형``으로, 학습 내용 배정 측면에서는 ``변형된 독립형``으로, 보조교과서의 활용 측면에서는 ``교수학습용``으로 구성하는 것이 바람직하다. 통합적인 국어 교육을 위한 내적 체제로는 도입, 전개, 정리의 큰 틀 하에 전개 학습은 지식, 기능의 이해와 안내된 연습을 하는 기본 학습, 실제에 필요한 지식?기능의 통합적 의미의 발전 학습, 소통하는 확장 학습으로 이어진다. 이들을 구현하는 통합 원리의 복합적인 선택과 조합의 필요성을 역설하였다. 국어 교육에서 통합적 교육을 해야 하는 것은 시대적 패러다임으로 자리 잡고 있다. 새로운 통합에의 요구와 학습자 중심 교육, 총체적 언어 교육을 살리기 위해 도입된 통합 교과서인 만큼 면밀한 계획 하에 시작해야만 이 후의 통합적 국어 교과서의 바람직한 단초를 마련할 수 있다. 새 교과서에 통합의 의의를 잘 살릴 수 있는 연구가 이어지길 기대한다.

The purpose of this study is to explore the method of integrating language arts in , korean language textbook development which are issued by the 2011 revised elementary textbook. The and which are revised in elementary korean language textbook this time are epoch making changes. At this revised textbook, more broaden type of integrating language arts approach is required. So, I suggested external and internal structure which is need to reflect the integrating language arts approach regularly. For the external structure of integrating language arts, it is desirable that are structured as ``dependent type`` in content connection, as ``transformational independent type`` in content apportionment and ``teaching and learning type`` in the use of the supplement textbook. For the internal structure of the integrating language arts, the realization of the understanding learning, applying learning and integration principle is essential. In Korean language arts, the integrating language arts is epoch paradigm. I sincerely hope the successive research which can support the meaning of the integrating language arts in new textbook.
