This research aims to explore the aspects and meanings in Korea modern abroad travel literature focusing on Heo, Heon`s Europe and America travel literature. While Korean travel literature as a domestic field has garnered a large amount of critical attention in past year, much of that focus has been on Koreans traveling domestic. This research seeks to address this gap in current research by analyzing texts by Heo, Heon`s Europe and America travel literature. Travel literature is an important element in the sense of Korea modern epistemological map. 『삼천리(SamCheolRi)』 is an important research subject that it was published throughout the 1930s, almost every area of social change in 1930s. and Heo, Heon`s abroad travel literature(Journey Around the World) have important meanings in that he is an important figure in our modern history. Heo, Heon`s abroad travel literature shows fragments of the life he lived and also reavels Korea`s modern history. Heo, Heon are overwhelmed by the Other as model of the modern material civilization of Western because of his excessive praise for American material civilization. My research thinks this is because he did not reflect the Other thoroughly. and his criticizing British imperialism and hoping the victory of the Russian Revolution in returning talk show evidences of his sympathizer about socialism.
