This study is aimed at emphasizing that eating, speaking and theatrical acting, as self-recognition devices, are a means to ascertain self-identity. Eating is a process of confirming self-existence. The characters in the work not only focus on their isolations through imagining food, but also reflects their desire for freedom they imagine. Speaking, as a physical action which is done through vocalization, is a process of wanting to convey a meaning. Prisoner`s act of speaking in an oppressive environment would be the most direct method to disband authoritarianism and make themselves exposed. Theatrical acting is the process of objectifying their sentiment and projecting it through movement. Immersing into a different life of others in the theatrical acting lets the prisoners paradoxically objectify themselves and look into ones. Theatrical acting, which is an active device for self-recognition, would be called ``Play of the Body``. Therefore, Our Country`s Good is a work showing each individual`s effort towards self-awareness and understanding through eating, speaking and theatrical acting. This study stresses that physical activities are the devices reaching positive recognition and overcoming a despair state.
