The concept of "family" is not stagnant. And we are living in a time that redefines the concept of family in many variant ways. To look into its change in the late twentieth century and early twenty-first century, we use the comparative study of the spanish movie Todo sobre mi madre of Pedro Almodovar and the korean movie Family Ties of Kim Tae Yong. These films reflect the change of the family or of the concept of the family in our ``Global village``, even if these two countries are located very far away. So the kind of a comparative study is meaningful. Not only Todo sobre mi madre but also Family Ties reflect the social phenomena of creating many kinds of family, escaping from the old concept that is limited into the myth of the normal family. Besides, these films suggest an alternative type of family. According to this, the New Family does away with the Patriarchy and it is based not on the marriage and blood ties but on the love and care of the women.
