「廣寒樓記」는 「춘향전」을 한문으로 改作한 작품이다. 19세기 중반에 만들어진 것으로 추정되는 이 작품은 우리 소설에서는 보기 드문 비평 방식을 취하고 있어 일찍부터 주목받아 왔다. 본고에서는 「광한루기」의 주요 비평가인 小廣主人의 評批 중 回評과 夾批를 분석하였다. 「광한루기」의 評批者는 각 章回의 앞뒤에 回評을 삽입하는 방식을 채택하여 외형상으로는 金聖歎의 評批에 비해 回評을 강화한 것처럼 보이지만, 回頭評과 回尾評에 차별적인 역할을 부여하지 못한 채 다만 回尾評에서 때때로 「광한루기」와 느슨한 연관을 가진 에피소드를 자유롭게 나열하는 방식을 취하였다. 작품에 대한 평가 역시 구체적 근거를 제시하지 않은 채 「광한루기」의 우수성을 자랑하거나 「광한루기」의 장점을 이해 못하는 ``창父``를 꾸짖는 방식으로 일관하고 있어 충분한 설득력을 확보하지 못하였다. 이 때문에 작품과 비평의 긴밀한 대화에 이르지 못하고 경우에 따라서는 오히려 「광한루기」 혹은 그 원작인 「춘향전」의 의미를 낮은 차원으로 제한하며 작품 해석의 지평을 축소하는 역효과에 이르기도 했다. 「광한루기」 夾批에서는 작품 본문과 적절하게 대화하면서 평비자의 재치가 발휘된 대목을 확인할 수 있었다. 그러나 평범한 서술 대목에 "敍事絶品!", "敍事佳品!" 등의 과장된 評語를 붙이고, 묘사 구절마다 "奇語!", "妙妙!", "奇文! 妙文!" 등의 評語를 남발하는 등 구체적 근거가 제시되지 않은 극찬이 이어지면서 夾批가 상투적인 말로 채워지는 약점이 노출되기도 했다. 결과적으로 「광한루기」의 回評과 夾批 모두 작품 본문과 밀착해서 대화하며 재기발랄하게 작품 안팎의 세계에 대한 도저한 인식을 보여주는 評點批評 특유의 장점을 충분히 살렸다고 보기는 어렵다. 이 점 金聖歎의 『西廂記』 評批 전반에 대한 심도 있는 이해 없이 그 외면적 형식만을 차용하여 재치를 발휘해 본 「광한루기」 評批者의 戱作 취향 때문으로 생각된다.
Gwanghanru-gi廣寒樓記 is an adaptation in classical Chinese from Chun hyang-jeon, Korean classical novel, written in the mid of 19th century. This work was noted in that it had a critical commentary評批, which was a unique way of criticism in the Middle ages of East Asia. As the main commentator of Gwanghanru-gi is Soeom-juin小廣主人, I analyzed Soeom- juin`s chapter comment and insertion comment in the critical commentary of Gwanghanru-gi. After I analyzed the chapter comment of Gwanghanru-gi, I recognized that the commetator of Gwanghanru-gi was unsuccessful in talking with Gwanghanru -gi, because he didn`t make a fair estimation on the detailed basis. In spite of several strength, the commetator of Gwanghanru-gi overestimated the writing skill of Gwanghanru-gi or overused similar comments in the insertion comment, and resultingly his critical commentary provoked negative reactions in the reader. Therefore I concluded that Soeom-juin`s critical commentary was built on the superficial view with a lack of profound understanding about Jin Shengtan`s criticism and the taste for a writing for amusement.
