본 연구의 목적은 심리측정패러다임의 신뢰도 및 타당도를 검증하고 심리측정패러다임을 적용하여 원자력 위험인식을 분석함으로써 위험특성, 위험인식구조, 영향요인을 검토하고 이에 따른 정책적 함의를 도출하고자 한다. 심리측정패러다임 검증결과, 심리측정패러다임의 타당도 및 신뢰도는 높게 나타나고 있다. 각 구성요인의 단일차원에서의 타당도 및 신뢰도 분석결과에서 위험의 두려운 정도와 위험의 알려지지 않은 정도의 구성개념 타당성은 높게 나타나고 있고, 신뢰도 검증결과에서 두 구성요인의 신뢰성은 높게 나타나고 있다. 고차요인분석결과에서 심리측정패러다임 모형적합도가 높게 나타나고 있어 심리측정패러다임 모형과 자료가 잘 부합되고 있음을 보여주고 있다. 원자력 위험인식 분석결과에서 원자력위험은 비원자력위험에 비해 상대적으로 두려움 수준이 높게 나타나고 있고, 다른 에너지원에 비해 상대적으로 두려운, 친숙한, 개인적 지식수준이 높은 위험으로 평가되고 있다. 또한 원자력관련 위험(핵물질수송, 방사성폐기물처리, 원자력발전소, 핵무기, 핵무기실험, 원자로 사고 등) 비교분석결과, 원자력관련 위험은 대체적으로 두려움의 정도가 상대적으로 높은 위험으로 평가되었고 위험의 알려지지 않은 차원에서 핵물질수송, 방사성폐기물처리는 위험의 알려지지 않은 정도가 상대적으로 높다고 평가된 반면 원자력발전소, 핵무기, 핵무기실험, 원자로사고 등은 상대적으로 잘 알려져 있다고 평가되고 있다. 이러한 분석결과를 기초로 본 연구는 원자력 위험에 대한 효과적인 위험정책 수립을 위한 고려사항을 검토한다.

The purposes of this study are to test the reliability and validity of psychometric paradigm and to examine characteristics of nuclear risks, structure of nuclear risk perception and factors influencing nuclear risk perception. The analyses indicate that the validity and reliability of psychometric paradigm are high. The higher order factor analyses reveal that the fit indices of the psychometric paradigm are high. The results suggest a good fit to the data. The overall results of nuclear risks show that the sample rates the nuclear risks as more serious risks than other social risks. In a two-factor dimension-“unknown risk” and “dread risk”, the sample indicates the similarities and differences in the perceptions of nuclear risks. Comparing the nuclear risks in the unknown dimension, the sample regards transportation nuclear materials and radioactive waste disposal as relatively unknown, while nuclear power plant, nuclear weapon, nuclear weapon test, nuclear reactor accident are evaluated as relatively known risks. Based on the results, the potential implications for effective nuclear risk policy are also discussed.
