이 논문은 한국철학사상연구회(한철연)가 생겨나는 시대적 배경과 그 창립과정, 구성원의 특징 등에 대해 살펴보고 기관지인 『시대와 철학』을 지성사 또는 사상사적 맥락에서 그리고 한국철학계와 연관시켜 시대적으로 서술하고 비판적으로 평가하고자 한다. 우선 2장에서는 1970, 80년대의 한국의 사회철학계의 개괄적 상황에 대해 간략하게 고찰하고 3장에서는 한철연의 창립 배경과 과정, 구성원의 특징, 이념 등을 살핀다. 4장에서는 『시대와 철학』의 두 권의 창간호와 2호(1991, 봄)에 대해 상세하게 분석하면서 한철연의 정체성에 대해 고찰한다. 5장에서는 『시대와 철학』3호(1991,가을)부터 14호(1997, 봄)에 이르기까지 한국의 민주화와 소련의 몰락이라는 시대의 변화에 따른 한철연의 사상적 고민과 모색에 대해서 살펴본다. 6장에서는 『시대와 철학』이 비매품이 되는 과정과 15호(1997, 가을) 이후의 내용에 대해 고찰한다. 7장에서는 한철연 활동과정과 『시대와 철학』의 편집과 간행 과정에서 제기되었던 중요한 쟁점들을 몇 가지 살펴보면서 『시대와 철학』에 대한 평가와 전망을 한다. 한철연이 학술운동단체로서 정체성을 유지하기 위해서는 재정적 문제의 해결도 중요하고, 현실에 이론적·실천적으로 개입하기 위한 새로운 통합적 이론의 창출과 ``삶에 대한 비평``을 위한 ``사상자원``의 확보 등도 반드시 필요하다. 이를 위해서는 한철연 스스로가 『시대와 철학』을 포함해 이제까지의 자신의 활동에 대한 철저한 반성과 평가를 통해 새롭게 거듭날 필요가 있다.
This paper aims to examine the historical background and foundation of Korea Association for Studies of Philosophical Thought(KASPT). The beginning of KASPT is an academic movement in quest of a philosophy of producer(labour), a critical(Marxist) philosophy as a spirit of epoch and insurgent of social contradiction. Also this article tries to analyse and evaluate Epoch and Philosophy (KASPT`s own journal) critially in the context of Korean intellectual history. At first, Chapter 2 surveys the overview of Korean social philosophy in the 1970`s and 1980`s. Chapter 3 examines the historical background, foundation and members of KASPT. Chapter 4 studies the relationship between two initial issues(two Epoch and Philosophy) and the identity of KASPT. Chapter 5 examines the new pursuit and change of Epoch and Philosophy(from No.3 to No.14) in face of the democratization of ROK and the downfall of The Soviet Union. Chapter 6 tries to analyse the changing contents of Epoch and Philosophy since No.15(1997. Spring). Chapter 7 examines some issues which has been debated from the beginning and evaluates Epoch and Philosophy This essay asserts that KASPT has to reflect his own history, recover the critical attitude, and try to present what efforts are needed for the new creative social, critical philosophy.
