In this study, it is defined that Allen`s "Ching Yuh and Kyain Oo" which was known as the ``Tales of Gyun-woo and Jing-nyuh`` is the work which Baekhaksun-jeun(白鶴扇傳) was translated from Korean into English. This work is not faithful literal translation of vocabulary or sentences in comparison with original text, Baekhaksun-jeun of Seoul Block Printed. However, the story development has some faithful translation aspects. Gyengpan Baekhaksun-jeun which was examined by Maurice Courant was apparently the translation works. Giving consideration to the circumstances of the late 19th century when there was no dictionary and grammatical books of the Protestant missionaries, the English version by Allen satisfies in showing the custom and life of the Korean society through the tales.
