이 논문은 국내외 읽기의 최근 동향을 분석하고 시사점을 제안한 연구이다. 국내외 읽기 분야의 최근 동향을 파악하기 위하여, 2005년부터 2010년까지 한국독서학회의『독서연구』와 국제독서학회의 「Reading Research Quarterly(RRQ)』에 수록된 3이편의 논문들을 분석하였다. 그리고 국내외 읽기 연구 동향에 대한 전문가 설문 결과를 비교 분석하였대 연구 결과, 국내와 국외의 읽기 연구는 l) 학술지 논문의 연구 주제와 2) 연구자가 인식한 연구 동향 측면에서 모두 상당한 차이를 보였다. 지난 6년간 한국독서학회에서 발간한『독서연구』에는 읽기 이론과 개남을 다룬 안구들이 가장 많이 수록되었고 문학 텍스트를 분석한 문학Z서사 읽기 연구나 읽기 교수법 관련 연구가 활발했다. 반면 국제독서학회의 RRQ에는 문식성 실행, 글깨치기와 유창성, 읽기 기능·전략·독해 연구, 테크놀로지 분야의 연구물이 가장 많이 게재되었다. 전문가 설문에 드러난 국내외 읽기 연구자들의 연식을 고려해 볼 때, 앞으로 국내외 읽기 안구의 간극은 줄어들 것으로 예측된다. 이 논문에서는 이러한 연구 내용과 논의를 바탕으로 하여, 향후 국내의 읽기 연구자들이 더욱 관심을 갖고 탐구해야 하는 주제들로 독해, 청소냔 문식성, 읽기 교사, 테크놀로지를 제안하였다.

The study investigated recent trends in reading research and offered implications. First, 301 journal articles from Reading Research of Korea Reading Association and Reading Research Quarterly from International Reading Association, published from 2005 to 2010, were analyzed to identify research trends. Survey results of professionals were also analyzed to articulate findings about recent trends in reading research both inside and outside of South Korea. The study found out that, in 2005-2010 Reading Research, topics on 1) reading theories and concepts, 2) literature, and 3) reading instruction were most popular. On the contrary, articles in RRQ mainly examined issues in literacy practices, beginning reading, fluency, reading skills, comprehension, and technology. Discussing the gap between Reading Research and RRQ about research trends, the study emphasized 4 areas (comprehension, adolescent literacy, teacher education, and technology) for further research.
