컴퓨터를 활용한 멀티미디어는 장애학생이 실수하였을 때 학생의 반응을 기다려주므로 학습에 매우 효과적이며, 멀티미디어 자체가 장애학생에게 흥미롭고 신선한 자극이므로 동기유발에 도움이 된다. 그러므로 본 연구에서는 특수학급에 재학 중인 지적장애 중학생 3명에게 멀티미디어 자료를 활용한 지역사회중심교수를 실시하였을 때, 대형마트 이용기술 수행에 미치는 영향과 다양한 장소에서 일반화되고 유지될 수 있는지를 알아보고자 하였다. 실험설계는 대상자간 중다간헐기초선 설계방법을 사용하였다. 교실중재는 멀티미디어 자료를 활용하여 대형마트 이용기술을 교수하고, 지역사회중재는 최소촉진법과 시간지연법을 이용하여 실제 지역사회 대형마트에서 교수하였다. 연구 결과, 멀티미디어 자료를 활용한 지역사회중심교수를 실시하였을 때 모든 대상학생들은 대형마트 이용기술을 습득하였으며, 습득된 기술은 학습하지 않은 지역사회 대형마트에서 일반화되었으며, 중재 종료 4주 후에도 유지되었다. 위와 같은 결과는 다양한 자극을 활용한 멀티미디어 자료가 지적장애 학생에게 흥미를 가지고 스스로 주의를 집중하여 활동에 참여를 증가시킬 수 있다는 것을 보여주었다. 그리고 교실에서 실제 지역사회환경에 최대한으로 근접한 환경을 구성하여 사실적이고 자연적인 자극인 사진과 움직이는 이미지 등을 포함시킨 멀티미디어 자료를 사용하였을 때에 일반화를 촉진시킬 수 있다는 결론을 도출할 수 있었다.

A purpose of the study is to know that middle school students with mental retardation can maintain their learned knowledge and community skills through multimedia resources after passing over 4 weeks. To be specific, the study wants to know whether 3 students who had been educated by community-based instruction to shopping can use these skills again at the same retail chain stores and do that by themselves. Meantime, the multiple probe design across participants had been used as an experimental design in the study. From this study, the result ``community-based instruction with multimedia data`` as follows; First, the performance of rate with fulfillment of skills were increased. Second, the skills of students that educated in classrooms became generalized when they had been experienced new environment. Lastly, the skills that used in retail chain stores had been maintained after four weeks later. To conclusion of this study, the community-based instruction with multimedia resources is an effective and useful methods for students with mental retardation to obtain retail chain stores or other places using community skills independently.
