본 논문은 박목월 시 가운데 나타나는 경상도 방언의 효능에 관한연구이다. 그의 작품 가운데 등장하는 방언의 문학적 형상화는 괄목할만한 성공을 거두고 있어 목월의 시에 나타나는 방언에 관한 연구는 의미를 지닌다고 볼 수 있다. 목월 시에 나타나는 방언의 수용 양상은 그의 향토적 서정과 남방정서를 훌륭히 승화시키고 있다. 목월의 시에는 옛 경주 방언의 고어 형태가 잔존해 있으며, 방언의 문법형태가 그대로 반영된 경우도 많이 나타난다. 또한 목월은 종결어미의 사용에 있어서도 방언을 적극적으로 수용하여 향토적 분위기를 효과적으로 연출해 내고 있다. 그의 방언의 활용은 남방정서 즉, 고향에 관한 질박한 향토성의 미학에서도 나타난다. 로컬리즘으로써의 경주는 그의 고향이면서 그의 문학세계의 지역성을 드러내며 전통적 불교의식과 더불어 향토적 정감을 자아내고 있다. 목월의 시에 나타나는 또 다른 작품세계는 질박한 향토성의 미학으로, 경상도 사투리 자체를 시적 의미로 활용하고 있어 순박한 삶 속에담긴 가치와 아름다움에 적절한 언어적 형식을 부여했다는 의의를 갖는 다. 한편 이는 한국인의 전통적 삶이 지닌 가치와 아름다움 그리고 정서를 형상화하였다고 볼 수 있다. 한편, 방언은 그의 내세적 인생관을 표출하는데 동원되고 있다. 목월의 작품 가운데는 인생이나 죽음의식과 허무의식 그리고 이들을 초월하는 달관의식을 전편에 드러내고 있다. 그리고 그 표현의 시적 전략으로 고향 사람들의 언어인 방언을 구사하고 있다.

The purpose of this study is to investigate on the Gyeongsang` dialect in the poems of Park, Mok-Yeoul. This study analyzed the Park` literary work because we want of the localism dialect. We expected that the results of this study might realized the Gyeongsang` dialect and language. This would be valued as the first rural cultural approach on Park` poems There has been studies of Park` early poetry which is natural. The poetry of Park, Mok-Yeoul have had a lot of discussion on nature as only called natural poetry. We are able to make a general study of his poetries. And it is true that his affection and interest in natural poetry, so that the this spaces in the poetry of Park, Mok-Yeoul were creative through such nature. But the on the effect of Gyongsang dialect in Park` poems appeared to cover the general fields of his later poetry. It is because they was of a different opinion from their appreciation of the world of the later poetry. Finally, this analysis focused on the effect of Gyeongsang dialect in Pack` poems.
