본 연구는 221개의 국제합작투자기업을 대상으로 과업관련 기준과 파트너관련 기준으로 대분하여 파트너선정 기준의 특성을 살펴보고 이러한 선정기준의 특성과 몰입도와 신뢰도를 매개로 하는 제휴성과와의 관련성을 분석하였다. 이러한 시도는 국외연구에 비해 기초적 단계에 있는 파트너선정 기준관련 국내연구에 대한 기여 및 주로 본국기업의 관점에서 파트너선정기준을 연구하는 국외연구에 대한 보완의 차원에서 의의를 찾을 수 있다. 분석결과, 과업 및 파트너관련 선정기준 모두 신뢰도와 몰입도와 정의 상관관계를 보였지만 과업관련기준이 보다 더 유의한 것으로 나타나 한국의 기업들이 파트너의 명성 및 네트워크 획득을 목적으로 파트너를 선정할 것이라는 인식을 불식시키는 결과를 보여주었다. 또한 제휴성과는 신뢰도와만 유의한 상관관계에 있는 것으로 나타났고 독립변수로서 파트너선정기준이 성과와 직접적인 상관성은 없으나 매개변수를 포함한 간접효과는 유의한 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 매개효과의 유의성에 대한 검증이자 한국의 국제합작투자기업들이 긍정적 제휴성과를 달성하기 위해서는 신뢰도를 향상시키는데 유의한 요인을 위주로 파트너선정기준을 제고해야할 필요성을 제시하고 있다.

This study examined effects of partner selection criteria divided as task-related criteria and partner-related criteria on the performance and transitional effects through involvement and trust of international joint venture from the Korean firms` perspective. This approach contributes both to domestic research at its beginning steps on the area of partner selection criteria and to overseas research confined to the perspective of firms from home country. The findings of this study show that task-related and partner-related criteria are positively related to trust and involvement of international joint venture relationship but stronger ties of task-related criteria repudiate existing view that Korean firms select foreign partners to acquire partners attributes such as reputation and industrial networks. In addition, joint venture performance show positive relationship only with trust while individual partner selection criteria demonstrate insignificance to performance. Considering indirect effect to performance resulted in valid correlations, this indicates parameters used in this study are valid. This study also provides practical implications that Korean firms should develop valid partner selection criteria that would enhance trust relationship rather than enhancing involvement.
