1950년대 『아리랑』에 실린 명랑소설은 전후 가치관의 혼란과 우울, 가족 해체의 위기를 연애의 판타지, 정조 규범의 혼란, 엄처를 통해 경쾌하고 명랑하게 극복하고자 한다. 그래서 개인의 비윤리적 행동을 유쾌하게 조롱하고, 연애의 판타지를 즐기기도 한다. 또한 성적 배타성에 기반 한 가족제도나 정조 규범을 흔들고, 엄처를 통해 사적 영역에서 남녀의 수직적 권력관계를 전도하기도 한다. 실존 속으로 깊숙이 가라앉아 세계와 싸우는 단독자적 개인이나 공적 영역의 국가·사회적 비전을 다루는 것이 아니라, 개개인이 처한 일상세계 속에서의 가치관을 다루고 있는 것이다. 그러나 명랑소설의 가족서사는 가부장적 제도와 이데올로기를 재구축하는데 요구되는 가족 규범과 윤리를 생산·재생산하는 한편, 여성을 공적 영역으로부터 소환하여 사적 영역으로 안착시키는 젠더의 정치학을 구현한다. 이때 명랑성은 근대적인 결혼 제도와 가부장적 이데올로기를 재구축하는 과정과 결말 에서 발현된다. 이런 의미에서 명랑성은 단순히 유쾌한 웃음을 유발하는 기제라고 할 수 없다. 전후의 우울과 가족 재건의 욕망과 결합되어 공·사적 영역에서의 젠더의 분절과 성별 위계질서를 재조정하고 재구축하는 과정에 작동하는 소설적 양식이자 담론체계이다. 그러나 대중 독자들이 국가라는 대주체의 전망과 작동 체계에 의문을 제기하는 등의 사회 정체성이 변화되는데도 불구하고, 명랑소설은 명랑성의 작동방식을 고수한다. 이로 인해 59년 이후 점차 쇠퇴의 길을 걷게 된다.

Meanwhile, it is implemented the politics of gender that women is recalled from the public sphere and seated in the private sector, At the process and the ending structure that rebuilds the modern marriage institution and the patriarchal ideology is made The brightness. As such meaning, the brightness is not the mechanism caused of simple merry laughter. It is the style of novels and the system of discussion that activates while the dividing of gender and the order of rank has been readjusted in the public filed and the private one by combining the gloomy with the desire to restore a family in postwar. On the other hand, even though the identity in society had been changed such as to raise a question for the vision of the great subject referred to a nation and the operation system, the humor novels has been in decline by holding fast to the brightness.
