The purpose of this article is to review the current status of educational curriculum of department of Korean language education in universities and to reorganize its educational curriculum according to the changing environments of university education. First of all, the curricula in Korean language departments in universities in Korea were reviewed. It was found that the ratio of subject matter education had been increasing since 1991. The status of subject matter courses were reviewed under the category of Overview, Expression/Understanding Education, Grammar Education and Literature Education. Major subject curriculum in Department of Korean Language Education needs to emphasize knowledge of Korean language together with teaching capabilities of teacher. The professionalism as Korean language teacher can be nurtured through ``teaching techniques`` that can be applied right away in the classroom and ``Korean language command capabilities`` that last for a long time. The following curriculum was proposed in this article.
