<중원 마수리 농요>는 1972년 전국민속예술경연대회에서 대통령상을 수상한 바 있으며, 충청북도 무형문화재 제5호이다. <중원 마수리 농요>는 제1부 <고사덕담>, 제2부 <모찌는노래>·<모심는노래>·<논매는노래>, 제3부 <긴방아타령>·<잦은방아타령>으로 구성되어 있다. 본 연구자는 2001년 12월 28일 마수리를 찾아가서 농요보존회의 박태엽 (1928년생)을 면담 조사하였다. 이 면담을 통해서 <중원 마수리 농요>의 상당부분이 전국민속예술경연대회 참가를 위해서 새롭게 만들어진 것이라는 사실을 알게 되었다. <중원 마수리 농요>의 형성은 지기선(1926년생)이라는 소리꾼의 이 마을 전입과 깊은 관련이 있다. 지기선은 충북 괴산, 음성, 충주 등 중원 일대를 돌아다니며 신체화한 민요를 통합하여 새로운 레파토리로 구성했고, 이것이 <중원 마수리 농요>가 되었다. 구비문학이란 이렇게 전파와 전승 과정에 혼합되면서 재창조되는 것이다. 다만, 그 재창조 과정을 밝히는 작업이 시급하다. 특히 전국민속예술경연대회를 통해 발굴·재구성된 문화재 혹은 구비물의 경우, 그 발굴과 재구성 기획에 참여한 전문가들의 증언이 필요하다.

He, making a round of some places of the Jungwon district such as Geoisan, Eumseong, Chungju etc., attempted to unify various folk songs which already came to bear the new style. Jee Gi-sun finally made out new repertories, which became . The formation of revealed that oral literature is subject to mixing and recreation in the process of spreading and transmission. What is imminent and important is to examine the procedure of its recreation. When studying the cultural assets and oral literature which were especially discovered and reformed for the National Folk Art Festival, the verbal evidence of the experts who attended the related work is a most necessary.
