본고는 해례본 《훈민정음》의 교육적 가치와 활용을 제고하기 위한 방안 가운데 하나로써 ``용자례``의 내용 용소에 대한 검토를 바탕으로 바람직한 교육 방법을 제시해 보고자 하였다. 먼저 고등학교 국어 교과서에서 다루고 있는 래례본《훈민정음》의 교육 내용을 개략적으로 검토한 후 ``용자례``의 교육 현황을 파악하고 문제점을 지적하였다. 그리고 ``용자례``를 통해 학습할 수 있는 내용 요소를 통시적 측면으로는 ``어형``과 ``의미``의 변화 양상으로 나누어 분석하였다. ``어형``의 변화로는 음운의 변화, 조어법에 의한 변화, 그리고 어형의 소멸에 해당하는 어휘를 살피고, ``의미``의 변화로는 의미 축소, 분화에 해당하는 어휘를 살펴보았다. 더불어 ``훈민정음`` 창제 당시 공시적 언어 모습을 여실히 엿볼 수 있는 모음조화의 특성을 다루었다. 이를 종합하여 해례본《훈민정음》의 ``용자례``를 고등학교 국어 어휘 교육에 효율적으로 활용할 수 있는 방법을 제안했다: 1) 현대국어와 어형 및 뜻이 같은 어휘 찾기, 2) 2음절 어휘에서 당시 국어의 특징 찾기, 3) 현대국어의 어휘로 대치해 보기, 4) 한자어로 바뀐 어휘 살피기, 5) 방언 어휘에서 사라진 어휘 찾기, 6) 어휘와 문화의 관계 탐색하기

The purpose of this study was to present a desirable education method based on the examination of the details of ``Examples on the Use of Letters`` as of the way to improve the educational value and utilization of 《Hunminjeongeum》. First, the educational details in 《Hunminjeongeum》, covered in high school Korean Literature subject textbook, were generally reviewed, and then the current educational situations and problems in ``Examples on the Use of Letters`` were explored and identified. In addition, the details which could be learned through ``Examples on the Use of Letters`` were analyzed based on the word form and the dattern of changes in meaning from a diachronic perspective For the word form, the changes in phoneme, changes caused by word formation, and words corresponding to the obliteration of word form were taken to the reduction and diversification were examined. Along with that, the characteristics of vowel harmony, which provided a clear clue to the status of synchronic language at the time of ``Hunminjeongeum`` invention, were explored. By putting them together, this study presented the method to ensure efficient utilization of ``Examples on the Use of Letters`` of 《Hunminjeongeum》 for the education of vocabulary in high school Korean literature subject: 1) Searching contemporary Korean language with the same lexical word forms and meanings 2) Identifying the characteristics at the status of synchronic language from a two-syllable word, 3) Substituting with the words of contemporary Korean language 4) Searching the words that were changed into Chinese character, 5) Searching the words that disappeared from dialect vocabulary, and 6) Exploring the relationship between vocabulary and culture.
