본 연구는 발달장애학생의 특성을 고려하여 특수교육 현장에서 미디어교육을 실행하기 위해 미디어교육의 실태 빛 요구를 조사하고 교육과정을 개발하는데 그 목적이 있다. 우선 일반 중고등학교의 특수학급 담당교사와 교육연구사 등 관련 전문가를 대상으로 현재 미디어활용교육의 수준 및 미디어교육의 이해, 교사 및 학생과 미디어교육, 교육과정 적용, 미디어교육의 방향 등의 주제로 면담조사를 실시하였다. 대부분의 교사들은 발달장애학생들은 미디어교육을 통해 의사소통능력, 정보처리능력, 사회성기술 등이 향상된다고 보고 교육과정을 구성할 것에 대한 필요성을 제시하였다. 발달장애학생을 위한 미디어교육 교육과정으로는 국어, 사회 등 각 교과별 내용에서 미디어교육에 댜한 요소를 추출하여 수업적용 가능성을 살펴보았고, 범교과적으로 활용할 수 있는 미디어교육 교육과정의 기본 틀을 개발하였는데, 1단계는 ``미디어인식``, 2단계는 ``미디어경험``, 3단계는 ``미디어를 통한 변화``가 그 주제이다. 미디어교육은 발달장애학생의 통합교육, 평생교육, 진로직업교육, 여가문화생활, 치료지원 등 다양한 방향으로 실행될 수 있다.
This study is an attempt to investigate the perception of the current status and the needs for the media education by interviewing regular secondary school teachers assigned to special classes, education researchers, and related professionals, and based on the results, develop the media education curriculum for the students with developmental disabilities. The interview topics were the current level of media use education, understanding on the media education, teacher and media education, students and media education, curriculum application, and future direction of media education for the students with developmental disabilities. Most teachers expressed that the media education has a potential to advanced the communication skills, information processing abilities, and social skills of the students with developmental disabilities, and agreed that there are needs for developing the media education curriculum. The components of the media education from subject areas including but not limited to Korean language and Social studies were reviewed, At the reviews and examination, lesson application were examined. Based on the findings from the reviews and examination, the cross-curricular media education curriculum is developed. The cross-curricular media education include three steps: first, media steps, second, media experience, and third, change through media. The media education can facilitate inclusive education, lifelong education, career and vocational education, leisure activities, therapy support, and other related areas for students and individuals with developmental disabilities.
