이 연구는 청소년들의 독자로서의 인식을 알아보기 위한 연구로 이상적인 독자와 자신의 독자로서의 모습을 글과 그림으로 표현한 자료를 분석하여 이루어졌다. 186명의 글과 그림에서 독자에 대한 인식을 나타내는 개념 어들을 추출하여 이를 6개 상위 범주로 묶은 후에 각 상위 범주를 하위 범주로 구분하여 빈도를 분석하였다. 독자 인식을 구성하는 6개의 상위 범주는 인지적 측면, 정의적 측면, 행동적 측면, 독서 환경, 학습과의 관련, 비유적 표현이다. 좋은 독자에 대한 인식은 14개의 하위 범주로 구성되었으며 각 상위 범주를 대표하는 하위 범주는 이해, 집중, 바른 자세, 많은 책, 모범생, 책벌레였다. 자신에 대한 독자 인식은 12개의 하위 범주로 이루어지며, 이들을 대표하는 하위 범주는 무념, 귀찮음, 바르지 않은 자세 등으로 나타났다. 이외 기타의 내용으로 좋은 독자는 독후감, 토론 등 독서 관련 활동을 잘 한다고 인식하였으며, 좋지 않은 독자로서의 인식으로 책을 읽으면 잠이 온다는 내용이 있었다. 청소년의 독자 인식은 독서 교육의 방향을 점검한다는 의미에서 교육적 시사점을 줄 수 있다.

This study is to search adolescents` reader self-perception and analyze the data of their writings and pictures about good readers and themselves as readers. Conceptional words which represent reader selfperception were extracted from 186 students` writings and pictures. After placed them under the 6 higher categories, they were analyzed frequency dividing higher categories into lower categories. 6 higher categories which organize reader self-perception are cognitive aspect, affective aspect, behavioral aspect, reading environment, relation with study and metaphorical expression. The conception about good readers is organized by 14 lower categoriesand the lower categories that represent each higher categories are understanding, concentration, a good posture, many books, a model student and a bookworm. Reader self-perception is composed of 12 lower categories and they are without thinking, idleness, a bad posture and so on. Besides, good readers recognize they are good at reading activity such as a book report or discussion but poor readers recognize they feel sleepy while reading. Adolescents` reader self-perception can give an educational message in that it examines the direction of reading education.
