본 연구의 목적은 영화 <세 얼간이>에 나오는 대화를 분석하여 바람직한 교사 화법의 시사점을 도출하는 데 있다. 영화는 드라마나 일상 대화와는 달리 정해진 시간 내에 결말이 드러난 인간사를 보여주기 때문에 대화의 공시태와 통시태를 함께 연구할 수 있는 좋은 자료이다. 교육 이데올로기로 회자되고 있는 신자유주의에 대한 비판과 교육 개혁에 논의가 있는 상황에서 <세 얼간이>는 교육적으로 의미 있는 영화이다. 영화 <세 얼간이>의 등장인물인 란초의 화법을 통해 공시태, 통시 태적으로 바람직한 교사 화법을 도출하였다. 공시태적으로 교사는 긍정적인 발화, 적극적인 공감적 반응, 학생 스스로 깨닫게 하는 권유, 도덕주의적 판단을 하지 않고 있는 그대로 관찰하는 대화, 친근하고 집중적인 경청 태도 등을 생활화해야 한다. 통시태적으로는 지속적으로 상대를 존중하는 화법, 지속적인 관찰을 토대로 한 화법, 지속적인 공감, 내적 욕구를 이끌어낼 수 있는 화법 등을 통해 생명력 있는 회복 화법을 교사가 구사해야 한다. 이상의 논의를 통해 ‘인정과 배려의 원리’를 상위 조직 원리로 구성한 ‘상호 이해적 대화’를 제안하고, 관찰, 관계 서사, 자아 정체성 구성하기, 표현이라는 화법 요소를 밝혔다. 현행 초등학교 국어과 교육과정에서는 이 요소들이 미흡하게 적용되고 있거나 아예 성취기준에 반영되어 있지 않다. 학교 교육의 교과 차원에서 언어문화 교육이 이루어지고 사회 전반적인 공론화로 사회 구성원의 공감과 실천을 병행할 때 인정과 배려의 원리에 따른 ‘상호 이해적 대화’가 확산될 것이다.

The purpose of present study is to propose teachers` desirable speech communication by analyzing dialogues of a movie, Three Idiots. Films are good materials for studying synchronic and diachronic conversation, because they show human stories which draw a conclusion in limited time. Three Idiots is regarded as a film of educational value in the present situation because there have been criticism about neoliberal education and debate about educational reform. Teachers` speech communication which is desirable synchronically and diachronically was proposed by analyzing the speech communication of Rancho, a character in the film. Synchronically teachers are advised to have speech communication attitudes such as the positive speech, active and sympathetic response, giving advice which helps students realize who they are, observing communication without moral judgement, and familiar and attentive listening. Teachers` diachronically desirable speech communication attitudes include respect to their interlocutor, continuous observation of speech, continuous sympathy, and speech which inspires inner desire in students. These are the vital recovery speech communication attitudes. Throughout the discussion, ``mutual understanding dialogues`` based on the principle of acceptance and consideration as the highest ranking principle was suggested and then the speech communication elements composed of observation, relation history, identity construction, and expression were elucidated. The above-mentioned speech communication elements are insufficiently applied to the present Korean elementary school curriculum and are not reflected in achievement standards at all. The ``mutual understanding dialogues`` based on the principle of acceptance and consideration will proliferate if the members of educational society agree with the principle and they put the theory into practice.
