이 글은 우리 나라 작문 교육의 현황과 문제점을 개괄적으로 살펴보고, 작문 교육을 개선하기 위해 선결되어야 할 과제를 모색하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 작문 교육의 현황과 문제점은 제도·행정적인 면, 작문 교육 연구면, 작문 교육 실제면으로 나누어 살펴보았다. 대체로 제도·행정적인 면에서는 아직 체계화가 덜 되어 있고 지원이 부족함을 볼 수 있었다. 작문교육 연구면은 현재 작문 교육 연구가 매우 왕성하게 이루어지고 있지만, 그 내용이나 방법면에서 개선할 점이 있음을 발견할 수 있었다. 그리고 작문 교육 실제면에서는 작문을 가르치는 사람들의 전반적인 인식이 낮고 지도 방법에서 많은 문제가 있음을 살펴보았다. 그런 다음 이를 바탕으로 앞으로 작문 교육의 활성화를 위한 선결되어야 할 과제를 모색해 보았다. 앞으로 작문 교육이 더 강화되고 확대되어야 함을 지적하고, 작문 교육 연구에서는 작문 교육 연구가 정체성을 확보하면서 좀더 의미있는 연구가 많이 이루어져야 함을 강조했다. 그리고 작문 교육의 운영 체제로 교육과정이나 교과서 문제를 언급했고, 지도 내용이나 방법이 개선되어야 함을 강조했다. 또한 작문 능력을 판정 할 수 있는 평가 기준이나 도구 개발이 필요함을 강조했다.

This thesis has object that review the present condition of korean writing educations and looks over some writing education problems, and consider some tasks for improve the writing education. The overview of problems in writing education is that systems and public service division, research for writing education, and real writing education section. In problems of systems and public service means writing education has not clean elaborateness and not enough support yet. The part of research for writing education is now very active researches are coming, but some contents and methodology fields need improvement. And problems of real writing education is that writing instructer`s very low pride and awareness for writing education. And I can introduce some tasks for writing education development which is consider all of improvement of problems. For sure writing education needs more strengthening and extension, writing education research should has itself identities. Furthermore more meaningful research results is should achieved very much. Also, I made mention of the issues of curriculums and textbooks as the operation system of writing education, and I specially emphasized improve teaching contents and teaching method. Also I showed that invention of evaluation standards and evaluation tools very necessary.
