이 연구는 자기 소개서 쓰기가 서사 표현이라는 점에 주목하여 자기소개서 쓰기의 서사적 원리와 교육적 가치를 밝히는 데 목적이 있다. 이 연구는 자기 소개서 쓰기가 현실의 문제를 해결하는 실용적 글쓰기라는 식으로 접근해온 기존의 논의를 반성하는 것에서 출발한다. 자기 소개서 쓰기는 삶에 대한 글쓰기로서 자기 인식과 자기 형성의 소중한 경험이 된다. 비록 현실에서는 자기 소개서 쓰기가 설득을 위한 글쓰기라 할지라도, 교육의 장에서는 그 목적이 교육적 가치에 의해 조정되고 보완되어야 한다. 자기 소개서는 ‘자기(自己, self)’라는 말과 ‘소개(紹介, introduction)’ 그리고 ‘서(書, writing)’이라는 세 말이 합쳐진 말이다. 자기를 소개하기 위해서는 이미 자기 자신을 되돌아보는 성찰의 과정이 필수적으로 요구되며, 그 과정에서 유의미한 삶의 경험을 발굴하고 그 낱낱의 경험 사건을 조직하는 과정이 수반된다. 그런 점에서 자기 소개서 쓰기는 자기 자신의 삶을 소재로 하여 가치 있는 삶의 형상을 부여하는 언어활동이라 할 수 있다. 따라서 이는 ‘삶에 대한 글쓰기(life writing)’라고 할 수 있을터, ‘삶의 의미화(making meaning of life)’ 과정이 바로 자기 소개서 쓰기인 것이다. 이 같은 쓰기 활동은 역시 쓰기 일반의 원리를 공유하는바, 독자를 전제로 한 글쓰기로 수행된다. 독자의 이해와 공감을 이끌어 내기 위한 목적 지향적인 글쓰기가 바로 자기 소개서 쓰기이다. 이때 서술자로서의 자기의 역할은 특별해지는데, 이에 따라 자기 소개서 쓰기는 자기 읽기와 자기 쓰기의 통합적 활동으로 구체화된다. 자기 소개서 쓰기 교육은 어디까지나 교육의 근원적 가치를 바탕으로 해야 하는 바, 인간의 자기 인식과 자기 형성의 경험을 추구하는 방향으로 나아가야 한다. 그런 점에서 설득을 위한 글쓰기라는 단일 목적에만 사로잡혀 자기 소개서에서 자기라는 말이 갖는 인간론적 가치를 망각해서는 안 된다. 결국 국어교육의 장에서 자기 소개서 쓰기는 덕(德)의 글쓰기를 지향해야 한다.

This paper aims at searching the narrativity and the educational value of writing a letter of self-introduction. This paper is based on the reflection of the preceding arguments paid attention to practical writing to solve the actual problem. As a life writing, writing a letter of self-introduction is the experience to conscious and construct self. Though writing a letter of self-introduction is regarded as one of a persuasive writing, it`s purpose and practice should be educationally mediated in educational field. Writing a letter of self-introduction has three words, that is ``self``, ‘introduction`` and ``writing``. To introduce self needs automatically the process of reflecting self, and it should eb happened to explore the meaningful experience and to organize the experiences in that process. In that meaning, writing a letter of self-introduction is the linguistic activity to make a form of life through explore one`s own life. Writing a letter of self-introduction is life writing, so it contains the process making meaning of life. This writing activity shares the general principle of writing, it means that writing a letter of self-introduction should be practiced to draw reader`s understanding and sympathy. In this self as narrator has a important role, writing a letter of self-introduction aims for the integration of self reading and self writing. Because Writing a letter of self-introduction should be based on the educational value, it`s practice should be self consciousness and self formation. We should not neglect the humane value of writing self in being caught a single object of persuasive writing. Finally, writing a letter of self-introduction should aim for virtuous writing in Korean language education.
