이 연구의 목적은 고등학교 작문 교육의 실태를 파악하고 2009 개정 교육과정의 도입 시기에 따른 학교 현장에서 예상되는 문제를 점검하는 데에 있다. 2010년 기준으로 작문을 선택한 학교 수는 60%이지만, 현장교사의 설문 결과 국어교사가 선호하는 과목으로는 응답자 중 8% 미만이 작문이라고 응답할 정도로 낮은 비율이며 작문을 되도록 피하고 싶다는 응답도 38%나 되었다. 가르치기 힘든 이유로는 평가가 힘들고 학생들의 흥미가 낮다는 내용이 많았다. 작문이 통합되었다는 사실을 모르는 교사도 응답자 중 44%나 되었는데 2,3학년 위주의 교과 편성으로 인해현장에서는 작문의 교육과정 변화에 민감하지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 현장 상황에서, 2007 개정교육과정에 진행된 지 2년 만에 서둘러 진행된 2009 개정교육과정은 과목 통합으로 인한 ‘화법과 작문Ⅰ, Ⅱ’ 신설, 이수 학년 자율화, 집중이수제 실현을 위한 블록타임제 등이 특징이다. 그 중 작문과 화법의 과목 통합의 경우에는, 교과서의 합본처럼, 기계적인 통합의 성격이 커서 이후 학교 현장에서 지도의 어려움이 예상된다. 2,3학년에 집중되어 있는 학년편제 역시 작문 교육의 정상적인 실행을 어렵게 만든다. 각급 학교에서 화법과 작문을 선택하지 않을 확률이 높아졌으며 선택이 된다고 하더라도 수업과 평가에서 대학입시라는 현실적인 문제에 부딪혀 교육과정이 압축, 생략된 형태로 진행되는 왜곡된 양상으로 나타나게 된다. 블록타임제와 집중이수제 등의 수업 방식의 변화는 작문교과가 당면하고 있는 학생의 학습동기 유발, 평가 방식의 개선, 수업방식의 개선에 대한 논의가 함께 전개될 때만이 유의미 한 결과를 가져올 수 있다.

This paper aims to grasp the actual situation of the high school Composition education and to check the predicted problem in school by the introduction of 2009 Revised High School Korean Language Curriculum. in 2010, around 60 percent of schools choose Composition. According to the result of a questionnaire, of the responder, Korean teacher who prefers to Composition accounts for less than 8 percent. About 38 percent of teacher evade Composition because it is hard to teach. 44 percent of the teachers don`t know the fact that Composition was integrated with Speech. It is reality that second and third grade students who will take an entrance examination attend Composition class. In the situation, after 2 years of 2007 Revised Korean Language Curriculum, 2009 Revised High School Korean Language Curriculum began. The feature of this system is Subject integration , An elective system , Block-time system . Because integration of Composition and Speech has been achieved in additional ways, it is expected that teacher will have a hard time teaching students in school. It is focused on second and third grade student. So this makes current Composition education more difficult. Our task is to motive student, upgrade our evaluation system and the teaching process.
