본고는 현행 쓰기교육이 여러 층위의 텍스트를 장르라고 명명하여 발생하는 문제를 고찰하고, 이를 해결하기 위해 문학의 장르 분류 체계를 도입해 보았다. 먼저 연역적인 분류 방식인 장르류에 해당하는 쓰기 장르를 설득·정보전달·친교·정서표현으로 보고, 개개의 문화적 양식들을 장르종으로 분류하는 방식을 택했다. 그 결과 하나의 문화적 양식을 하나의 장르류에 귀속시키지 않고 문화적 양식 자체를 교육할 수 있는 계기를 마련할 수 있었다. 자서전 양식의 경우 종래의 정서표현 장르류라는 구분에서 벗어나 시대와 사회에 따라 ‘반성하는 나에 대한 글’, ‘되고 싶은 나에 대한 글’,‘영웅적인 나에 대한 글’ 등으로 다양한 양상을 띠고 있음을 살필 수 있었다. 이는 자서전이란 과거의 경험을 기록한다는 단순한 인식에서 벗어나 자서전 장르가 지닌 사회문화적 이데올로기를 관찰, 분석, 비판할 수 있게 할 것이다. 이는 장르이론이 단지 장르를 텍스트의 형식적 질서를 이해하는 것을 넘어서 장르의 사회적 실천을 다루는 데까지 나아가고 있는 흐름을 반영한 것이라고 볼 수 있다.

This thesis investigates a genre problem in the current curriculum, and suggests the new classification of genre referring to literature genres classification. literature genres are divided into sub-genre, for instance poetry, drama, and prose. At the same time literature genres divided into historical genre. In the same way, writing texts are divided into persuasive, informative, social interactive and expressive writing. At the same time, writing texts divided into cultural convention. A case of Autobiography is not only limited to expressive genre, but also ``a writing of self-reflection``, ``a writing of design future dream``, and ‘a writing of heroic life.`` Based on genre theory, meaning of genre will expand genre as text or rhetoric into genre as practice. Consequently autobiography writing education will expand to investigation of sociocultural value of autobiography.
