이 연구는 쓰기 주제가 쓰기 수행의 성별 차이에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 밝히는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위하여 연구에서는 중학생 및 고등학생 292명으로부터 2가지 쓰기 주제에 따라 작성한 글 자료를 수집하였다. 분석 결과, 첫째, 쓰기 주제 1(음악 관련 주제)에 따른 쓰기 수행에서는 여학생이 남학생보다 평균 점수가 통계적으로 유의하게 높았으나 쓰기 주제 2(구기 종목 관련 주제)에 따른 쓰기 수행에서는 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 발견되지 않았다. 둘째, 학년에 따라 성별로 차이가 있는 지를 확인하였을 때, 쓰기 주제 1에서는, 고등학교 1학년을 제외한 다른 학년은 통계적으로 유의한 성별 차이를 보였으나, 쓰기 주제 2에서는 모든 학년에서 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 발견되지 않았다. 셋째, 쓰기 수행 수준으로 집단을 구분하고 쓰기 주제에 따라 성별 차이가 있는지를 확인한 결과, 쓰기 주제 1에서는 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 나타났지만, 쓰기 주제 2에서는 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 이러한 결과를 통해 쓰기 주제는 쓰기 수행의 성별 차이에 영향을 미치고 있다는 점을 확인할 수 있었다. 그리고 남학생들은 쓰기 주제 1보다는 쓰기주제 2로 글을 쓰게 했을 때 여학생들보다 쓰기 수행의 수준이 더 우수했고, 반대로 여학생들은 쓰기 주제 1에서 쓰기 수행의 수준이 더 우수했다. 그러므로 학생들에게 쓰기 주제를 제시할 때 이러한 결과를 고려 할 필요가 있다.

The aim of this research is to analysse about gender differences on writing performance according to writing topic. It was randomly gathered 292 middle and high school student`s writings about two writing. The result of analysis, first, female students received a significantly higher score in quality in the related to topic 1(Music-related). But, in the case of the related to topic 2(Ball game-related), the difference was not discovered on writing performance. Second, in topic 1, female students was significantly higher than the male students in middle school except high school. In topic 2, the difference depending on school year was not discovered on writing performance. Third, in topic 1, female students was significantly higher than the male students on writing performance level but, in topic 2, the difference on writing performance level was not discovered. Through this research, we confirmed the fact that writing topic influenced gender on writing performance. Male students took interest in topic 2 and females students performed much more topic 1 than topic 2. Therefore, teachers should consider this results when they show the writing topic.
