이 연구는 PCK와 그것의 표상 도구인 CoRe를 활용하여 쓰기 수업을 효과적으로 설계할 수 있는 방안을 제시하고자 하였다. 본 연구의 핵심개념인 PCK는 교과 수업 전문성을 바라보는 패러다임 변화의 흐름에서 오늘날 지식 기반 교과 수업 전문성의 핵심 개념으로 주목받고 있다. 이러한 PCK를 국어과 쓰기 수업에 적용하기 위하여 교과 공통적인 속성을 갖는 PCK의 개념 및 구성요소를 쓰기 영역의 관점에서 재해석하였다. 아울러 과학과에서 가장 먼저 제시한 PCK 표상 도구 CoRe를 국어과에 맞게 수정 보완하고 이것을 다시 쓰기 PCK와 결합함으로써 PCK에 기반한 쓰기 수업 설계의 기본 틀로 예시하였다. 이렇게 만들어진 PCK에 기반한 쓰기 수업 설계를 기존의 단원 수업설계와 비교한 결과, 전자의 방식이 후자의 방식을 크게 두 가지 면에서 개선할 수 있다고 판단되었다. 한 가지는 교육과정에 제시된 쓰기 영역의 교육 목표와 성취 기준을 확인하여 해당 쓰기 수업에서의 지향점 또는 목표를 설정하고, 그것을 효과적으로 달성할 수 있도록 교육 내용을 선정한 다음 이것에 대한 학생들의 이해 정도를 확인하여 교수 방법과 내용 표상 방법을 결정하는 접근 방식을 취함으로써 체계적인 수업 설계를 할 수 있다는 점이다. 다른 한 가지는 특정 수업 이론이나 교수·학습 모형에만 의존하지 않고, 수업의 흐름에 따라 제시되는 교육 내용의 표상 방법을 학생의 이해 정도에 맞추어 유동적으로 결정하는 방식을 취함으로써 교수·학습 활동의 질을 높을 수 있다는 점이다. 하지만 PCK에 기반한 쓰기 수업 설계의 기본 틀은 그것에 익숙하지 않은 현장 교사들이 바로 활용하기에는 어려움이 예상되어 변환이 필요하였다. 그리하여 용어와 형식을 일반 수업 설계를 사용하는 교사의 입장에서 수정·보완하면서 크게 두 가지 원리를 강조하였다. 하나는 교육내용과 관련된 학생 이해의 진단과 그에 따른 교수 처방을 제시하는 것이고, 다른 하나는 작은 교수법 중심의 차시 수업 설계를 하는 것이다. 즉, 형식적인 면은 CoRe의 핵심 질문들을 수업 설계 요소로 설정하여 일반 수업 설계의 작성 방식을 따르되, 내용면에서는 두 가지 원리를 부각시켜 해당 수업과 관련된 쓰기 PCK가 교수·학습에 직접적으로 반영될 수 있도록 한 것이다. 좋은 집을 짓기 위해서는 좋은 설계도가 필수적이듯, 성공적인 쓰기수업을 위해서는 수업 설계가 잘 이루어져야 하고, 그에 따른 준비가 철저하게 이루어져야 한다. 이러한 관점에서 PCK에 기반한 수업 설계는 좋은 쓰기 수업을 위한 설계의 역할을 충실하게 할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.
The present study aims to propose a method of effective instructional design for writing using PCK and its representation tool, CoRe. The core concept, PCK has drawn attention as the essential concept in today`s knowledge-based instructional expertise in line with the paradigm shift relative to subject-specific instructional expertise. To apply PCK to writing instruction in Korean language class, the present study re-interprets PCK-related concepts and elements, which are inherently common to all subjects, from the perspective of writing. In addition, CoRe, first suggested in science as the representation tool for PCK, is modified and adapted here for Korean language lessons and then integrated with the PCK for writing so as to illustrate a framework for PCK-based instructional design for writing in Korean. Compared with the existing unit-based instruction design, the proposed PCK-based design for writing in Korean language lessons is considered to improve the existing design in two ways. First, systematic instructional design is feasible by complying with the educational goals and achievement standards in writing as specified in the curriculum, setting aims or goals of writing lessons, selecting the content in favor of effective achievement of goals, checking out student`s understanding of the content and determining teaching and content representation methods. Second, instead of depending on certain theories or teaching-learning models, the proposed approach determines flexibly the method to represent the content in class in accordance with students` understanding, so that it can enhance the quality of teaching-learning activities. Nevertheless, the PCK-based framework for instructional design for writing in Korean language needs adapting as the teachers unfamiliar with it are likely to have difficulties applying it on the spot. Thus, its terms and forms are adapted for teachers who use ordinary instructional design, where largely two principles are stressed. The first principle is to diagnose students` understanding of content and suggest teaching prescriptions accordingly. The other principle is to design subsequent lessons based on smaller teaching methods. That is, as for the formal aspect, the key questions of CoRe are set as the elements for instructional design compliant with ordinary instructional design methods, whereas those two principles are emphasized in terms of the content so as to directly reflect the PCK-based instruction for writing in teaching-learning. Building a good house requires a good blueprint. Likewise, a successful writing instruction is based on a quality instructional design along with thorough preparations. Hence, the proposed PCK-based instructional design will serve quality writing lessons.
