이 글은 과학기술 글쓰기 강의에 대한 이론적 연구와 정보의 공유를 활성화하기 위해 2006년 1학기에 연세대에서 개설된 「과학글쓰기」강의의 내용을 소개하고, 과학글쓰기 강의모형을 고안하는 과정에서 제기될 수 있는 몇 가지 논점들을 제시하는 것을 내용으로 한다. 필자는 우선 과학 글쓰기 강의의 모형을 만들 때, 강의의 내용을 글쓰기 교육에 초점을 맞춰서 구성할지, 아니면 의사소통 교육으로 폭을 넓혀서 구성할지 여부를 결정할 필요가 있으며, 또한 과학 글쓰기 강의의 초점을 전문가들 사이에서 이루어지는 의사소통에 맞출 것인지, 아니면 대중이나 비전문가들과 행하는 의사소통에 맞출 것인지 여부를 결정할 필요가 있음을 지적하였다. 또한 각각의 선택의 경우 중 특정 방향을 선택하게 될 때, 예상되는 한계와 문제점들을 예측해보았다. 본 논문에서 소개하는 강의모형은 과학기술 전문가들 사이에서 이루어지는 의사소통을 원활히 수행하는 데 필요한 능력의 배양에 초점을 맞추고 있다. 본문에서는 담당교수의 강의, 학생들의 글쓰기, 개인과제의 수행과 발표, 협력과제의 수행과 발표로 이루어지는 강의모형의 구체적 내용을 소개하였으며, 각각의 강의요소가 지향하고 있는 목표를 설명하였다. 마지막으로 결론에서는 본 강의모형의 한계와 문제점들을 토대로 이공계 대학에서 글쓰기와 의사소통 교육이 단순히 교양수업의 차원에서만 진행되어서는 안되며 전공수업과 긴밀하게 결합해서 진행되어야 함을 제안하였다.

In this article, I introduce the contents of science writing lecture that is opened at Yonsei University in 2006 first term, and present some points that can be brought in the process of devising model of the science writing lecture. With this introduction, I hope to activate theoretical study and to exchange the information about science writing lectures. I indicate that it should be decided to compose the contents of lecture just focusing in writing education, or widening with communication education when the model of science writing lecture is made. And I indicate the need to decide whether will set focus of science writing lecture on education on communication ability required among experts or will set on communication ability required when doing with public or nonprofessionals. Also, I expect the limits and problems in occasion of each selection. The model of science writing lecture that is introduced in this paper is focused on communication ability attained among technology experts. In conclusion, I suggest that the science writing and communication education must not be proceeded in dimension of liberal art lecture simply, and should be gone and combine closely with major classes at science and engineering department of university.
