본 논문은 현재 고등학교에서 이루어지고 있는 작문 교육의 현황과 전망을 고찰한 것이다. 작문 교육을 이루는 세 가지 핵심 축은 단위학교 교육과정, 작문 교과서, 교수-학습과 평가이다. 고등학교 현장에서 일어나고 있는 작문 교육의 문제점을 살펴보고, 이에 대한 해결 방안을 탐색해 보았다. 첫째, 작문 교육의 현황은 단위학교 교육과정에서 ① 학생 선택권의 유명무실, ② 작문교육의 이상과 현실 사이의 갈등, ③ 국어 과목 내 작문 영역의 위상 축소를 보였으며, 작문 교과서에서 ① 학습 분량의 과다, ② 학습자의 흥미와 관심과 유리를 나타냈고, 교수-학습과 평가에서는① 구체적 작문 프로그램 지도의 미비, ② 학생에 대한 개별 평가의 미비를 드러내었다. 둘째, 작문 교육의 전망은 단위학교 교육과정에서 ① 작문의 절대 시수를 우선적으로 확보, ② 범교과적 작문의 필요성을 강조, ③ 교사에게 작문 교육과정을 재구성할 수 있는 권한의 확대를 제기하였고, 작문 교과서에서 ① 학습 분량의 적정화, ② 이상적 작문 교과서의 모습을 상정하였으며, 교수-학습과 평가에서는 ① 작문 지도의 구체적 프로그램을 충분히 확보, ② 학생 개별 지도 방법에 대한 구체적인 방법 모색, ③ 작문 교수-학습과 평가 방법에 관한 교사 연수의 지속적 시행을 제안하였다. 앞으로 이들 논의는 보다 정밀하고 체계적이며 풍성하게 진행되어 더욱 탄탄하게 이루어져야 한다. 이러한 작은 노력들이 결실을 거두어 ‘이론을 위한 이론이나 연구’의 차원을 넘어 학교 현장에서 작문 교육의 본질을 회복하고 강화를 위한 작은 초석이 될 것이다.

The purpose of this paper is to examine the present condition and perspective on writing education in High school The writing education is consist of units school curriculum, writing- textbooks, teaching-learning & assessments. This study is to survey actual problems of Writing Education in korean general High school and to investigate how to solve that problems First, the writing present condition is revealed ① nominal student`s selection, ② conflict between ideal and reality, ③reduction of writing field`s phase in units school curriculum. The writing present condition is bared ① excess of learning amount, ② separation of learner`s interest and concern in writing-textbooks. The writing present condition is exposed ① insufficiency of the concrete teaching writing program, ② inadequacy of individual evaluation in teaching-learning & assessments. Second, the writing present perspective is suggested to ① ensure absolute time hours, ② stress cross-curriculum needs, ③ extend teacher`s authority of reconstruction in Writing Education Curriculum. The writing present perspective is proposed ① adequacy of learning amount, ② presentation of ideal`s textbooks in writing-textbooks. The writing present perspective is offered to ① secure the concrete teaching writing program ② find the concrete methods about individual teaching ③ operate of teacher`s continuing training in teaching-learning & assessments. Consequently, We must discuss more detailed, systematic, plentiful about writing education in High school . And this discussion must be a foundation to recover and reinforce essential on writing education in High school.
