본 연구의 목적은 제1공화국에 대한 평가를 주제로 최근에 발표된 학술지 논문을 토대로 동일한 역사적 사건에 대하여 긍정적으로 평가한 논문과 부정적으로 평가한 논문을 비교분석하는 것이다. 모든 평가는 평가주체의 가치관으로부터 자유로울 수 없다는 전제하에 때로는 공으로 평가되고 때로는 과로 평가되어 논란이 되고 있는 논제를 정치 분야, 외교·군사 분야, 경제 분야에서 각각 하나씩 정하고 각 논제별로 논문들을 요약하여 재평가하는 작업을 통해 다양한 해석의 가능성이 존재하지만 이러한 해석의 다양함을 인정하는 범위가 역사적 사실의 왜곡된 해석에 대해서는 명백하게 제외시켜야 할 학문적 당위성에 대해 문제를 제기한다. ‘역사적 진실’은 결코 단순하지 않아서 여러 가지 다른 각도에서 보거나 해석하게 하는 수많은 측면이 있지만 해석의 다양성이 ‘역사적 진실’의 왜곡과는 차별되어야 한다는 전제하에 역사적 사실에 대한 평가를 수행함에 있어 평가주체의 ‘이데올로기’적 관점이 미치는 영향을 살펴보고자 한다.

The purpose of this paper is to reevaluate the First Republic of Korea based on the prior research on the evaluation of the First Republic of Korea and President Singman Rhee. The prior studies show the inconsistency in terms of achievements and faults: On the same historical fact, for example, the evaluation varies. The range of the variety of interpretation often leads a historical truth to misunderstanding and even distortion. Evaluating something or someone always is influenced by the ideology of an evaluator. This paper examines how the ideology of an evaluator makes interpretations on the same historical event tp be differed. On the same historical fact, by contrasting the positive evaluation with the negative evaluation, reevaluating the First Republic has been proceeded.
