The global economic crisis which hit all the world gave us a lesson that we needed to research on the effectiveness of our financial supervision system and to protect financial consumers who has been damaged by the crisis. And we bagan to worry about the system risk of financial system and felt it necessary to introduce a supervision tool to protect financial system against the system risk This paper focused on the financial supervision structure in financial supervision system and referred to the U.S financial reform act, The Dodd-Frank wall street Reform and Consumer protection Act, This paper addressed the reform of financial supervision structure taking into consideration the difference between the separation and division of the function and the relationship of each function. If some tasks are in relation of similar function but have some possibility of contradiction with each other, those tasks should not be divided into under other authorities but separated in same authority guarantying the independency of the function.In conclusion, this paper suggests some points of reform of financial supervision structure considering the ineffectiveness of present supervision system and the international trend to solve same difficulties in supervision over the financial system in this risky world. First, the national financial policy and international financial policy need to be controlled by a same authority. Second, the prudential supervision and the financial consumer protection need to be implemented under a same authority but separated from each other, so to speak, not adopting the twin peaks system. Third, the prudential supervision and the supervision of system risk need to be divided into independent authority and the latter is recommended to take a shape of council same as the Financial stability Oversight Council in U.S. The financial supervision structure proposed in this paper is just one of the ideas which can improve the financial system in Korea. It is necessary to research on financial supervision system not within limited time of power transition such as presidential election but for long time and with much more debate on it, as the financial supervision environment.
