본 연구는 포커스 그룹 인터뷰를 통해 학교상담학회 윤리강령의 사용 현황 및 필요성을 파악하고 이에 대한 문제점과 개선되어야 할 점을 분석하였다. 학교상담자 윤리강령은 학교상담자에게 학교 상담이 가지는 윤리적 갈등을 해결하는데 기본 방향을 제시해주므로 학교상담자가 이에 대한 내용을 숙지하는 것은 매우 중요한 일이다. 본 연구에 참여한 모든 포커스 그룹 인터뷰 실무자 및 연구 자들은 이러한 학교상담자 윤리강령의 필요성을 잘 인식하고 있었다. 하지만 실무자 대부분은 학교 상담학회 윤리강령을 접하지 못하고 있는 것으로 나타나 이에 대한 접근성을 높이는 것이 시급함을 확인할 수 있었다. 인터뷰 참여자들이 제시한 윤리강령의 문제점 및 개선점에 대해 요약하면 다음 과 같다. 1) 현 학교상담학회 윤리강령은 우리나라의 학교 교육 및 학교 상담이 가진 특수성에 대한 반영이 미흡하므로 이에 대한 내용이 추가될 필요가 있다. 2) 윤리강령 개정안에서는 부모의 알 권 리와 학생의 비밀 보장 사이에 상충될 수 있는 부분에 대하여 보다 명확한 기준이 제시될 필요가 있다. 3) 자녀의 상담 사실을 학부모가 알지 못할 경우 법적인 문제가 발생할 수 있으므로 윤리강령 에서 사전 동의에 대한 규준을 제시해주는 것이 필요하다. 이와 관련한 시사점 및 추후연구를 위한 제언에 대해 논하였다.

The primary aim of this study was to examine the extent to which the ethical code of the Korean School Counseling Association is being utilized by school counsellors and how important it is to apply this ethical code in practice. In addition, limitations and issues to be considered or amended when revising the current ethical code was explored. Since the ethical code for school counsellors can provide cardinal directions for school counsellors to resolve ethical dilemmas, it is of critical importance for school counsellors to be well acquainted with them. Our data through interviews suggested that although most of the participants strongly recognized its importance, only a few of them read the ethical code for the Korean School Counseling Association. Thus, it is an urgent matter to boost its accessibility and utilization. The limitations of the current ethical code and the contents that are needed for reformation are as follows: 1) the current ethical code does not fully cover issues involving the unique features of the Korean education system, as well as the school counseling setting, 2) a revised ethical code needs to offer well-defined guidelines dealing with conflicts between confidentiality of clients and their parents` “right to know”, and 3) if informed consent from parents is not received, problems including legal issues can occur. Thus, a revised ethical code needs to refer to this issue. Implications and limitations of the present study are discussed with suggestions for future research.
