애착에 대한 경험적 연구들은 모든 연령대에서 이루어지고 있지만, 학령기 아동의 애착을 자기보고 식으로 평가할 수 있는 적절한 척도가 없는 실정이다. 본 연구는 최근 Gullone과 Robinson(2005)이 학 령기 아동의 애착을 측정할 수 있도록 IPPA를 개작한 학령기 아동용 부모 및 또래 애착 척도(the Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment-Revised for Children: IPPARC) 중 부모 애착척도를 우선적으로 모에게 사용할 수 있도록 번역, 역번역 하여 타당도를 검증하였다. 모애착 척도의 요인구조를 알아 보기 위하여, 초등학교 4, 5, 6학년에 재학 중인 아동 346명을 대상으로 실시한 모애착 척도의 점수 에 기초하여 탐색적 요인분석을 하였다. 최종 도출된 척도의 내적 일관성을 알아보기 위해서 Chronbach α 계수를 구하였다. 그 결과 1요인, 2요인, 3요인 구조 중 1요인 모델을 지지되었고, 전체 내적합치도는 .92였다. 번안한 모애착 척도의 준거관련 타당도를 알아보기 위하여 애착이 안정되지 못할수록 우울하다는 Bowlby(1980)의 제안에 기초하여 애착과 우울의 관계를 살폈다. 그 결과 애착 과 우울의 상관은 -.504 (p < .001)로, 모애착이 높을수록 우울이 낮은 것으로 나타났다.

Although empirical research on attachment has been conducted at all ages, an appropriate self-report scale of attachment for children dose not exist in Korea. In recent, Gullone and Robinsin (2005) revised the Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment into the Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment-Revised for Children to assess the attachment of school children. This study examined the validity by translating and back-translating the Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment-Revised for Children into Korean to assess the attachment to mother of school children. In order to examine the factorial structure of children`s attachment to mother scale, we conducted factorial analysis on the basis of score of attachment to mother from the 346 children in 4th, 5th and 6th grade. Cronbach α coefficients were calculated to assess item internal consistency of the final derived scale. The results showed that 1 factor model was supported between 1 factor model, 2 factor model, and 3 factor model. Cronbach α of the total scale was .92. In order to examine the criterion-related validity of IPPARC, we explored the association between attachment and depression on the basis of proposal of Bowlby (1980) that less secured attachment predicts higher level of depressive symptoms. The results showed the higher attachment to mother predict lower level of depressive symptoms as correlation coefficients between attachment and depression were -.504 (p < .001).
