본 연구는 삶의 의미추구와 의미발견 과정이 진로성숙도를 이행되는 과정에서 의미추구 시 긍정 정 서를 느끼거나, 부정적 상황을 긍정적으로 재해석 하는 것이 의미발견에 도움이 되는지를 확인하였다. 대학생 181명을 대상으로 구조방정식 모형을 이용해 의미발견 과정에서 긍정적 재해석과 긍정 정서의 매개효과를 살펴본 결과, 먼저 의미추구와 진로성숙도의 관계에서 의미발견이 완전매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 반면, 선행연구와는 달리 긍정적 재해석은 직접 의미추구와 의미발견사이를 매개 하지는 않았으며, 본 연구에서 새롭게 투입된 긍정 정서는 유의한 매개효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이 결과는 삶의 의미를 찾고자 노력하는 사람들은 실제로 의미를 발견 단계에 이르러야 진로성숙도에 도움이 되며, 삶의 의미를 발견하기 위해서는 긍정적인 정서 경험이 필요함을 시사한다.

This study examined the significance of (a) the mediating effect of meaning presence in the relationship between searching for meaning and career maturity, and (b) the mediating effects of positive reappraisal and positive affect on the relationship between searching for meaning and meaning presence. A total of 181 undergraduates participated in the study and completed a packet of questionnaires including searching for meaning, meaning presence, career maturity, positive reappraisal, and positive affect. The results using structural equation modeling analysis revealed that the mediating effects were significant for the variables of meaning presence and positive affect, but not for positive reappraisal. The results suggests that those individuals who are looking for their meaning in life need to pursue the true meaning in order to enhance their career maturity, and to experience positive affect to proceed in the meaning detection process.
