본 연구는 영유아기 자녀를 둔 기혼여성의 양육스트레스와 우울 간의 관계에서 자아존중감 안정성 의 조절효과와 매개효과를 알아보고자 하였다. 선행연구와 관련이론을 바탕으로 양육스트레스를 독립변인으로, 자아존중감 안정성을 조절변인과 매개변인으로, 우울을 종속변인으로 관계모형을 설정 하여 그 효과를 검증하였다. 이를 위해 D지역의 영유아기 자녀를 둔 기혼여성 550명을 대상으로 양육스트레스 척도, 자아존중감 안정성 척도, 우울척도를 사용하여 설문을 실시하였다. 양육스트레스 와 우울 간의 관계에서 자아존중감 안정성의 조절효과를 검증하기 위해 회귀분석을 실시하였고, 매개효과를 검증하기 위해 구조방정식 모델 접근법을 사용하였다. 검증결과, 영유아기 자녀를 둔 기혼 여성의 양육스트레스와 우울 간의 관계에서 자아존중감 안정성은 조절효과와 매개효과를 보였다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 본 연구의 시사점과 제한점에 관하여 논의하였다.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the mediating and moderating effects of self-esteem stability on the relationship between parenting stress and depression among married women with young children. A total of 387 married women with young children completed Parenting Stress scale, Stability of Self-Esteem Scale, Beck Depression Inventory. Data were analyzed with SPSS 18.0 and AMOS 18.0. The findings were as follows; First, the correlation coefficients of the study variables were all statistically significant. Second, the relation between parenting stress and depression varied according to the level of self-esteem stability; thus, self-esteem stability acted as a moderating variable. Third, parenting stress had direct effects on depression and it also had indirect effects on depression mediated by self-esteem stability. That is, parenting stress lowered self-esteem stability, which led to higher level of depression. In this study, it was shown that self-esteem stability acts both as moderating and mediating variable between parenting stress and depression. Based on the findings, implications for therapeutic interventions were discussed. Limitations of the current study and the suggestions for further research were also discussed.
