철학실천(상담)과 심리상담이 분업의 관계가 아니라 협업과 경쟁의 관계여야 한다”는 아헨바흐의 주 장에 따라 이진남은 철학상담과 심리상담을 구분짓는 고유한 특성으로 비지시성과 상호성을 들어 철학상담의 고유성과 독립성을 주장한다. 그러나 이진남은 심리상담 역시 비지시성과 상호성을 지 향하고 있다는 사실을 인지하고, 그의 입장을 선회해 철학상담의 고유성은 철학하기 즉 철학적 사 유에 있다고 주장한다. 그러나 철학상담의 본질이 철학하기에 있다면 굳이 2500년의 역사를 지닌 철학의 고유성과 독립성을 새삼 주장할 필요가 없으며 또한 심리상담과 철학상담은 전혀 다른 종류 의 상담이 되어 이진남이 주장하려던 철학상담과 심리상담의 관계는 협업이 아닌 분업의 관계가 되고 만다. 이 같은 결과는 논자가 앞서 언급한 “철학상담은 지금처럼 심리상담의 여러 상담기법 중 하나로 자리매김해야 한다”는 주장을 뒷받침하는 것이 된다.

On the authority of Archenbach`s view that there must be a relationship of cooperation and competition, not of specialization, between philosophical and psychological counseling, Jin-Nam Yi claims the peculiarity and independence of philosophical counseling by presenting non-directiveness and reciprocity as its peculiar characteristics. However, as he realizes that psychological counseling is too oriented to non-directiveness and reciprocity, he changes his view and presents ``doing philosophy`` or philosophical thought as a peculiar characteristic of philosophical counseling. But if the nature of philosophical counseling lies in doing philosophy, there would no need to claim the peculiarity and independence of philosophy, which has a history of 2,500 years. Furthermore, philosophical and psychological counseling are not that of the same sort. and they have a relationship of specialization, not of cooperation. This fact supports my view that philosophical counseling must be one of the diverse techniques of psychological counseling as it is.
